^ That wasn't my experience. I wanted to be a Marine. But, I passed the ASVAB and so I joined the Navy instead.

True story: I took the ASVAB in HS. I scored a 91 AFQT and the Army, Air Force, and Marines called my house to give me the sales pitch. The Navy recruiter did not call, but actually came to my house to pitch the sale. I bought his BS and joined.

As a former Coastie I can appreciate the satire. But, for the sake of decorum, I'll defer and not mention the Coastie response to those remarks as a brawl usually ensued after it was spoken.

Is it true that CG training has to go to the Oregon coast & roll a boat? If so, they have my respect.

It seems like there is a boat coxswain school at Cape Disappointment which is at the mouth of the Columbia River in Washington. Never went, but I served with some guys who had been stationed there. Anyone headed into the sea from there is guaranteed to get wet.
