Well it is bachelor time for a couple days. Got the kids pawned off to grandma's. I'm going to run over to a place called Club Habanos or the first time. It's the only place in town where you can order a drink and enjoy a cigar inside. California is such a deprived, disgusting over regulated place I'm almost sorry to be a state employee. They are supposed to have an incridible selection in their humidor. I'll have to go see for myself. I bet these places are few and far between in this beautiful state of silly laws and incredible taxes. I'll let you know how it was.

I love my wife, I love my wife, I love my wife. Okay, now that I got that out of the way. This place is quite the (hmmm how do I put it) meat market. What a collection of very nice looking women, for you single guys. This place is located in north Fresno CA. They have an excellent selection of cigars to greet you as you enter. The prices seemed to be about 10-20% cheaper than the local humi-shops. I think they make it up at the bar. I brought my own so I didn't sample any new stuff this time. As for drinks, Black and tan runs $5. Bass Ale in the bottle is $5.50. Sam Adams $4.50. I didn't try the top shelf stuff but it looks like they have a fair selection of single malts and martini fixin's. The best part is the atmosphere. Good sound system, they have a room with the bar and a nice little side room with a pool table, darts, trivia games and big screen TV. Good place to watch football I think. If this place was a cigar I would give it an 85 rating. Considering that it is the only cigar bar in town, it seems to be pretty popular. They have private humidors for club members. I don't know how they manage to avoid the cigarette police, but I really don't care. I'll definitely will go back. I recommend it as a good place to stop, should you have a reason to visit or do business in the Fresno CA area.

Now they are trying to ban smoking in New York resturants and bars!!! The Liberal Left is moving in on us and disrupting our cigar smoking! California would be great if we could get rid of a select 30% of the population, maybe send them to Montana or Idaho! Charlie

As long as you use the word smoking or cigar in at least one paragraph, you should be exempt from threadjack accusations and off topic issues.

Rayder: I have an off topic Q, but seeing that you are CHP thought I'd ask...(tongue in cheek)

If I were to light up a cigar (proper use of post) smoke it 'til there was a nice long ash and jump in my 'vette vert and hit double zeros (200 mph) on the HUD...

1). I've heard that the ashes would float in mid-air for a few seconds then blow away...what do you think?

2). How high does your raydar, lidar, etc detectors actually register?

3). Could you catch me?

;)
Yes, my car w/no modifications CAN do that, but I'm not incriminating myself...purely hypothetical...and on a closed course of course!

I'll answer off topic. Aerodynamocs are a funny thing. I have been in a Viper at 120 and you couldn't feel the air, but at 55 the air hitting the back of one's head was substantial. So, maybe an ash can hang in the air. Radar is absolutely accurate nowadays. I have been using radar for 19 years. I know when I am getting a strange reading, a ghost reflection, a good reading of if I am being jammed. I sat at the end of a runway at Fresno Airport and clocked an F-16 landing at 140 MPH. I went to the other end and clocked another F-16 taking off. Before he went over the top of my car I got 220 MPH on the radar. I have a 3 digit position so I assume my radar goes up to 999 MPH. Yes, regardless of what you are driving, I "can" catch you. My Crown Vic is good for 135 MPH. The Camaro I am going to get in 2 months goes 168.9 MPH. My Motorola functions at approximately 189,000 Miles per second. Our fixed wing aircraft max out at 220 or 240 MPH. Helicopter about 115-145. The only problem is, you can't run 200 MPH for very long until you run into traffic or a bridge abutment. I would safely say, here in the pursuit capital of california (Fresno) 1 out of 100 completely get away. (Car and driver). 1 out of 30 the driver gets away but leaves the car. 1 out of 10 crash into something. As a response to the tongue and cheek question. You can probably outrun me in your vette, but frankly, I don't care. I've had dozens of people take off on me that I didn't even chase, just let them go. Not worth my life to chase someone, if it isn't absolutely safe to do so. The average CHP Officer spends a heck of a lot of time traveling at speeds of 100+ MPH in all kinds of traffic. After a while it becomes very routine. The average person or even above average person. Doesn't visit 100 MPH very often. What we bank on is that the inexperienced person is going to blow it sooner or later. Mostly what we do with ultra high speed drivers, is shadow them for as long as it takes. Eventually something will happen which will slow them down.

Anyway...I think she's talking about having her top down. Maybe even the car too.

I smoke my gar while driving and I always turn on my radar detector. Of course I only use it to make me more aware of my speed so the leo doesnt have too.

Rayder, I DID say on a closed course, not out in public. Don't think I'll be ever be trying to outrun the law anytime soon (a friend I don't talk with too often just retired from flying ASTREA).

Those are some great stats! I just saw a post on a Corvette website re: the ashes at 200 mph in a convertible with the top down and was curious if you had ever heard of such a thing. Keep that raydar tuned!

Thanks...
