No, and just be clear, the dead infant was the a winner of the unlucky. The parents just suffered the loss.

I must say, it's a little tough to decipher your response, but do you seriously think I would be pleased to see children die? When I said, "True" I was agreeing with your statement,"Some people, some, really like this vision of God." I'm not "some people"

I think we are all are created with free will, some chose an evil path and others do not. Followers of either path can be a winner in the unlucky lottery. For example the unfortunate woman driving with no other cars nearby through the Boston (Big Dig) tunnel at the exact moment the ceiling collapsed and killed her. People want to understand the why so they go to all sorts of effort to blame something, evil, sinners, an inferior religion and even God. The unlucky lottery by the way, connected to the willful acts of other humans.

Actually Gene, I got the impression that you liked the “kill every last one of them” type retribution. And no I don’t think you would be pleased to see children die. You just like the idea of the Lord kicking ass.

And the Old Testament God really did some ass kicking. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

Honestly, as he is described in the Old Testament, God can be a bit mean…..

Leviticus was a buzz-kill every time he walked into a party.

I don't mind the evil getting theirs, but judgement is supposed to be up to God last time I checked, something a lot of folks are all too ready to do, including many self professed Christians.

Yes, there is a slight dichotomy between the Old and New Testaments. Teaching people the difference between right and wrong requires a little drama to get their attention, some healthy fear and plenty of guilt to keep them in line. It also keeps them in church.

Today, a lot less smiting and a lot more, "What would Jesus have done?" would be a good thing.
