got nothing against teachers, have too many of them in my family...

if you need a union/ rely on a union to get ahead at your job, you're already not worth what you're paid...

lots of people have to be in unions to do their job, nothing against them either...

but the scumbags of today who actively try to unionize non-union employees are typically greedy and lazy...

kudos to the university for exploiting the law to benefit themselves financially...

I'm sure there will be a price put on them. I hope preacher man has done a good job of hiding his assets. Because I'm thinking Starbucks is going to own every dime he has.

As a side note, I'm wondering if ET has called him this week.

Unionization is forming a monopoly on the supply of labor. Just as with monopolies in other industries, it can lead to anti-competitive behavior.

There are situations in the real world where the government grants companies exclusivity. Just as in the real world, there is a rationale behind unionization.

In both instances it can be exploited and lead to poor product at a high cost.

I think the better approach would be to have competing unions. Allow unionization, but also require multiple unions in one field. This would give indvidual workers increased bargaining power vs the employer (the initial reason for the union), but would not allow the union to have a monopoly on the supply of labor.

but hey... this isn't really a discussion on unions, more an amusement at the convoluted logic the religious university was using.

my point wasn't just that unions are bad but rather that they are bad enough that anything any institution legally gets away with doing in order to prevent them from being established amongst the staff of said institution should be praised, "convoluted logic" included...

multiple unions within the same workplace competing for the same employees would essentially nullify a union's purpose...

that said, I'm all for it, think it's a great idea... but I'm pretty sure if you start a union to compete with the teamsters, you'll be murdered, literally....

There are unions because workers were treated unfairly by employers. They are justifiable, but subject to the same political crap of any organization.
