(CNN)Ted Cruz asked his communications director Rick Tyler to resign Monday after Tyler distributed a video that falsely depicted Marco Rubio dismissing the Bible.

The incident comes a day before the Nevada Republican caucuses and in the wake of accusations from rival campaigns in recent weeks about Cruz's campaign tactics. Donald Trump has called Cruz a "liar" and Rubio and Ben Carson have also blasted the Texas senator.

Trump, Rubio and Carson have all attacked Cruz for his ethics ever since Cruz's victory in Iowa. Cruz later underperformed in South Carolina two contests later.

Cruz says he spent the morning investigating what happened before making his decision. Campaign manager Jeff Roe confirmed that Tyler had formally resigned.

"I have made clear in this campaign we will conduct this campaign with the very highest standards and integrity," Cruz told reporters Monday, adding that Tyler is a "good man."

"This was a grave error of judgment. It turned out the news story he sent around was false but I'll tell you, even if it was true, we are not a campaign that is going to question the faith of another candidate," Cruz said.

A former, longtime spokesman for Newt Gingrich, Tyler was a senior aide and one of the Cruz campaign's first hires in the run-up to his presidential announcement.

According to MSNBC host Kate Snow, Tyler abruptly left the studio just as he was about to go on air.

"He actually abruptly left just before we were about to go live to him and now we know why," she said on air.

Tyler had apologized late Sunday for the incident.

"I want to apologize to Sen. Marco Rubio for posting an inaccurate story about him here earlier today," said Tyler, the spokesman, wrote in a Facebook post.

The latest dust-up comes as the two senators' campaigns have been clashing heatedly for days about "dishonesty" and "lies" on the trail.

Trump immediately sought to capitalize on the moment.

"Wow, Ted Cruz falsely suggested Marco Rubio mocked the Bible and was just forced to fire his Communications Director. More dirty tricks!," he tweeted.

And Rubio's campaign similarly rubbed salt in the wound, praising Tyler's skills but saying he "had the unenviable task of working for a candidate willing to do or say anything to get elected."

The story mentioned by Tyler was about a video that shows Rubio walking into a hotel lobby past Cruz's father Rafael and a staffer reading the Bible, and subtitles in the video misquote Rubio as saying, "Got a good book there, not many answers in it."

In a corrected version of the video tweeted by Rubio's communications director, Alex Conant, the subtitles quote Rubio saying, "Got a good book there, all the answers are in there."

Rubio himself explained to reporters Monday that he was saying the Book of Proverbs is especially helpful.

"I know exactly what I said to that young man. I said, 'The answer to every question you'll ever have is in that book,' and then I pointed to the Book of Proverbs, which he was reading, and then I said 'Particularly that one,'" Rubio told reporters in Nevada.

Tyler continued, "Since the audio was unclear, I should not have assumed the story was correct. I've deleted the post because I would not knowingly post a false story. But the fact remains that I did post it when I should have checked its accuracy first. I regret that mistake."

Nightcap: Now that Jeb's gone, where is his money going? | Sign up

Rubio said he accepts Tyler's apology, but called for the Cruz campaign to hold someone accountable.

"It's every single day, something comes out of the Cruz campaign that's deceptive and untrue, and in this case goes after my faith. So I understand, I guess one of their spokespersons apologized and I'll accept his apology, but this is a pattern now and I think we're now at a point where we start asking about accountability," Rubio said.

The Independent Journal review first reported the Cruz-Rubio campaign Bible controversy.

The flub by the Cruz campaign comes after Rubio finished narrowly ahead of Cruz for second place in the South Carolina primary Saturday, behind Donald Trump. In the heated contest there, the Cruz campaign was repeatedly accused by both Rubio and Trump for being dishonest and engaging in dirty tactics.

In one incident, the Cruz campaign used an altered photo on an anti-Rubio website showing a smiling Rubio shaking President Barack Obama's hand, which was featured on a page about the "Rubio-Obama Trade Pact," accusing Rubio of casting the crucial vote to pass the Trade Promotion Authority bill in the Senate to give Obama authority to negotiate trade deals more quickly. Rubio aide Todd Harris called the photo "deceitful" in a gaggle with reporters where he distributed a printout of the page.

The Cruz campaign later changed the photo, but said it was obviously photoshopped and not an issue. They have fought back at the repeated accusations of dishonesty from the Rubio camp by saying the senator is "screaming liar" in the face of his record and spreading its own rumors.

AND FIRE THAT PORNO QUEEN!!!!

“Extremely disappointed the #TedCruz campaign pulled the national television spot I had a role in,” she tweeted.

According to her IMDb page, Lindsay has also appeared in non-erotic, mainstream TV series and films, such as “Star Trek: Voyager” and “The Portrait of a Lady.”

She told BuzzFeed News that she is a conservative Christian and a Republican and has not performed in hardcore porn films.

I've been wondering why they pulled commercials featuring a porn star from their campaign.

I mean... it's a commercial, not porn. Shouldn't their christian forgiveness want to let her get non-porn work.... and support that? I mean, if you pull all the commercials she's in and don't hire her for any other, she may have to do porn again. that doesn't seem very christian.....

Adolf Hitler definitely had his shortcomings.

The ruthless Nazi dictator suffered from a condition called hypospadias, which left him with a micropenis — and forced him to urinate from a hole at the base of the shaft, instead of the tip, according to an upcoming book.

In addition to an abnormally small manhood, Hitler only had one descended testicle, medical records show.

Adolf Hitler suffered from a condition called hypospadias, which left him with a micropenis, according to an upcoming book.
Newly-uncovered medical records about the Führer were researched for the book "Hitler's Last Day: Minute by Minute," which was written by historians Jonathan Mayo and Emma Craigie.

"Hitler himself is believed to have had two forms of genital abnormality: an undescended testicle and a rare condition called penile hypospadias in which the urethra opens on the underside of the ****," the historians wrote, according to a Telegraph report.

Hypospadias is found in 1 in every 200 boys, and can lead to sexual performance difficulties later in life, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports.

A look back at the life of Adolf Hitler
In addition to hypospadias, medical records uncovered in December showed that Hitler likely suffered from an undescended testicle — a diagnosis that was made by a prison doctor following a 1923 arrest.

Records by Dr. Josef Steiner Brin, Landsberg prison's medical officer, identified "Adolf Hitler, artist, recently writer" as "healthy and strong" but suffering from "right-side cryptorchidism."

Cryptorchidism is when the testicle fails to descend properly.

The diagnoses lend credence to the song "Hitler has only got one ball," a bawdy British propaganda song.

from conservative review about Marco Rubio lying:

A little while back, I argued that Marco Rubio's tactics in attacking Ted Cruz's Senate record on immigration and national defense, among other things, were Alinskyite. They were and still are simply and demonstrably dishonest. Yet he persists, knowing full well that by the time the truth catches up with him, if ever, the damage will have been done. More recently, Rubio and his campaign team have intensified and broadened their Alinskyite tactics, now focusing on the ultimate personal smear -- that Ted Cruz is a serial liar. Even in this, Rubio is not original. Of course, Donald Trump has been calling his opponents liars as an almost Tourette's-like response against anyone who reminds him of his past but recent support for leftists and leftist causes, some of whom and which he still embraces.

But Rubio's smears are part of a more deliberative and unrelenting propaganda campaign. They are now at the core of his campaign effort to dislodge Cruz and clear the field against Trump.

Saul Alinksy explained it this way: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Rubio fancies himself the next Ronald Reagan. But such self-aggrandizement is unmerited. He's more Alinsky. Indeed, it was Reagan who, in his 1966 race for Governor of California, declared: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican." I doubt Reagan would approve of Rubio's campaign of character assassination against Cruz. In all the years I campaigned for Reagan and worked for his administration, I cannot recall Reagan ever talking about another Republican this way. Certainly not as a relentless propaganda campaign.

...when the candidate himself (Rubio) is the source of the Alinskyite tactics, not a staffer acting on his own, that's an entirely different matter.

Rubio, like Trump, has difficulty explaining his past positions. For Trump, it doesn't seem to matter. Moreover, Trump's resort to personal attacks can be followed up with evidence of his business accomplishments. But Rubio has no significant accomplishments other than his election to various public offices. He has few if any accomplishments outside of politics and virtually no accomplishments in public office as a U.S. senator. In fact, Rubio's most notorious public act was as a senator, i.e., his leading role in crafting one of the most disastrous immigration bills in modern times, in knowing violation of his pledge to the voters of Florida in his last election. Not only has Rubio's immigration record gone from anti-amnesty to pro-amnesty to utter incoherence, but the issue of his own integrity is at stake. Thus, he employs Alinsky's rule and accuses Cruz of what he has actually become. He now focuses the media on his own accusations rather than his own thin record.

Campaigns are usually tough. No question about that. As I write this, Cruz just dropped his communications director for re-tweeting a false tweet. Perhaps there's more to it. Trump fired some of his staff early on. Carson did the same more recently. But when the candidate himself (Rubio) is the source of the Alinskyite tactics, not a staffer acting on his own, that's an entirely different matter. I had high hopes for Rubio when I was among his earliest supporters against Charlie Crist in Florida. But I'm deeply disappointed in him, as are many who voted for him. The growing endorsements for Rubio's presidential candidacy from establishment Republicans, most of whom cannot better articulate his accomplishments than he can, emphasize the point.

It is not too late for Rubio to reverse course. But I doubt he will. Polling in South Carolina shows that he (along with Trump) was successful with this tactic.

Mark Levin...the Great One...yeah...a resume so vast and impressive it begs the question..."Why don't you run for President?"

He won't.

He's just like Rush, Ann, Sean, Glenn and the rest of the right talking heads...they want to get paid! The schtick is easy to decipher to anyone paying attention. You can finish the sentences for them. They just use their opponents words and use a snippet here and a snippet there to continue the bombastic "attack".

Yea for them.

If they really had a game...they'd jump in the ring. Nobody can argue with that either. Oh? Someone does?

Really?

Psst...Donald Trump is your frontrunner.

while the "article" is somewhat entertaining hypospadias doesnt mean the wiener is small and has nothing to do with how the circumcision was done (to address frank's comment)

but the aforementioned aside, im pretty sure hitler at least had a very skinny wiener that was also likely below average in length
