I went to the local shop because it was tasting day. The Natural vendor was there. I noticed he had some boxes of Ambrosia cigars so I asked for one of those instead. There is very little info on these so I grabbed a brocure. I will tell you the basics in as few words as I can.
June 2002 marked the release of Drew Estates first "Spiced Cigar Blend". While looking for materials used to make Acid and Natural we came across exxotic(sic)Native spices from South Asia and Europe and blended them with two very distinct and different classes of tobacco- genuine 20 year old vintage leaves from Honduras and Nicaraguan leaves grown on our farm in Esteli. Blah Blah...
There will be 4 types of wrappers used. Connecticut Shade, Sumatra soaked in wine and spiced rum, Camaroon from Africa, and a midnight black Maduro.
I smoked a Nectar earlier today. It is one made from Connecticut shade. Like the Acid and Natural line the construction is excellent. It tastes as advertised, very spicey. I could pick out hints of ginger and clove with some orange peel taste. It had a strong taste of a menthol like flavor. They are as flavored as the Acid line. If you do not like flavored cigars then pass on these but if you want something different they are worth a try. The ash was grey and dark grey. When I cut into the cap I noticed a leaf that was almost black. It looked like a chocolate chip. It ran the length of the cigar and was more spread out at the top. The cigar produced a nice amount of smoke but it was not thick. This is a mild cigar but the smoke did burn my eyes.
If you like the Acid line then you should give this one a try. Probably too stinky for Mr. Mean though.

Donutboy. I am not into that kinda stuff. The smoke burned my eyes not the cigar. I guess a "real man" could put out a lit cigar with his eye. I bet Mr. Mean could do it.
Jazzman and anyone else in San Antonio: Club Humidor is having an anniversary celebation. They are having events at both locations starting Wednesday. The Humidor has a special visitor on Thursday. I arrived at 3:30 and stayed till the last drawing at 4:00.

I didn't try them but I was at a store that had some in stock. Took a whiff and it smelled like those clove cigarettes. I passed.
