.. And the Pope will probably call to love them and forgive. Would you consider this an act to start a religious war?

Do not get confused, the Church does not condone "religious wars." The Church has what we call, Just War Doctrine meaning that the aggression of one group of people whether it be a Nation, Tribe, or Even Terrorists for that matter becomes so agregious that basically the Church's stance is, go to war because if we do not we'll get wiped off the face of the planet. Meaning it has to be a very extreme and dire situation for the Church to call arms. One martyrdom is not the case.

More than likely, he'll be declared a martyred saint which needs to happen. All those people innocently slain for their religion deserve sainthood.

Obviously ISIS isn't going to go straight to the Vatican and knock down the Pope's doors, but if this continues on, where is the line in the sand?

Pope Francis along with several Vatican officials have already been requesting that western governments do everything they can to contain ISIS.

Recently Cardinal Burke, the Cardinal Presiding over the Order of Malta has wrote a letter openly admitting that anyone who is concerned about Islam's inability to separate Church from State has a legitimate concern and should gravely work toward ensuring that Muslim law and rule does not occur in the west.

I think Gummy is on to something with this....

The Pope has his own army, why doesn't he just go after ISIS? I'm sure the US would supply them arms and then deny it..

But this was a lone wolf terrorist, not one with a religious affiliation. We must be sure we do not make accusations that upset our Muslim citizens. At this point we really do not know who was at fault. What we do know is if we had more gun control laws this would not have happened. Boy can I sound Presidential or what?

This is particularly horrible to me, any of the shootings and mass murders are horrific, but shooting a member of the clergy of any religion goes deeper yet. It is an attack on Religion. I think it hurts many of us profoundly.

I prefer it.
Honestly thus crap should be left to the religious leaders on both sides. Leave the "civilians" out of it... Priests vs imams, steel cage match or something like that.

Victor, are you really saying you condone murder? I thought Atheists had humanistic values. A priest or an imam are still human beings.

"Well, of course, warfare isn't all fun. Right — stop that! It's all very well to laugh at the military, but when one considers the meaning of life, it is a struggle between alternative viewpoints of life itself. And without the ability to defend one's own viewpoint against other perhaps more aggressive ideologies, then reasonableness and moderation could, quite simply, disappear." - MP fog

We all know that PC in the Democratic party has been out of line for some time. Imagine what they would be saying if an Imam had been murdered by 2 Christian teenagers doing it for Catholics.

ALL THESE RECENT OCCURANCES
are reaching the "limit of restraint"...
I forsee a MODERN CRUSADE coming
Against THESE terrorists...
They are just begging for it...
And they will get it.
Everybody is tired of this assault on civility.

Highly unlikely, Europeans don't want to risk the union falling apart. More than likely it will be a call to seize power by demanding a standing European military.
