As is often the case, I watched a news bit that interviewed Muslim Americans. And they strongly said that they weren't like radicals..and they fear 'backlash'....but, still, not ONE strongly condemns radicals...I don't get it. I do always come down on the side of the side of tolerance and benefit of the doubt and am outraged at wholesale discrimination of Muslims. But, just once, I want to hear a cleric, or even regular citizens sound outraged about other Muslims that are intent on killing. Maybe not just once...I want to hear it a lot.
I still am not hearing what I want to hear. In fact, while it is just a TV show, I was disappointed the way Madam Secretary treated this exact topic the other night:
Sec'y of State has a Muslim as a top advisor and after a bombing, the show tried to justify why he shouldn't have to speak out....that it should be 'understood', or something....what a load of crap.....I DO feel bad for innocents who are persecuted for actions of others, but if the non-radicals don't publicly decry the radicalized Muslims, then MANY people (not just Trump supporters :) ) will continue to lump them all in the same 'basket'.
