Do you guys do intro threads here? Nothing makes a person feel more nooby than an intro thread. My name is Phil and I'm new not only to this board, but cigar smoking in general. I smoked my first cigar a little over a month ago and it was love at first puff. It was a Gurkha Royal Challenge and I enjoyed it so much that I bought a few different Gurkha's from this site. Much to my suprise, they all taste like rat piss. For those of you not familar with rat piss, maybe disappointment and tree bark would be a better analogy. Thinking back on it now, the Royal Challenge wasn't really that great either. You live and learn I guess...and I mean no disrespect to any Gurkha fans out there. Maybe I have just had some bad luck with them.

I have been sampling A LOT of different cigars, and I'm starting to figure out what I really enjoy the most. My pursuit and new love of cigars is what initially brought me to this site. I have been lurking around here for a few weeks and thought it might be fun to shoot the breeze with some people that share the same interests that I do. I also thought that maybe I could learn some much needed information like, NEVER BUY GURKHA ANYTHING. I'm currently on a mission to smoke as many cigars as possible. Feel free to say hello, or you can tell me to F-off. I'm good with either one. Enjoy your smokes gentleman.

Welcome, I am very new here still myself but I will have to say the folks here are pretty dang awesome. Even our BUTT HURT ONE that was raised in SEATTLE. Cant say that I blame him, If I was raised in Seattle I would be butt hurt all the time as well lmaoooo. Any how enough about that.

Go easy on Gurkah's, Hank loves those and will trade you all the cigars you want for a Gurkah. If you should have some you would like to get rid of in your Humi, just send a bunch of PMs to Hank the Tank. He will get back to you ASAP.

If you are not tough skinned then just bite down on a pillow and PREPARE YOUR ANUS! Our vets are very honest for the most part and they do not hesitate to call out ignorance. They are full of fantastic information and great camaraderie. They like people that use yuppie terms like "Sticks" so make sure you start posting using that word allot when referring to cigars in your post.

Dang it Where is Cameroon? I cant keep stalling this guy. It is not the WEEKEND WTF! horse

Says the guy that trades all of his good cigars so he can only smoke Dark Sharks and Pirates Gold.

Welcome to the party!

I also tried a fair amount of Gurkha's when I first started smoking cigars. Praise God that was about 8 years ago and I finally got that rat piss taste out of my mouth last week. Never again will I try another unless a new one gets rave reviews...highly doubtful.

What flavor profiles do you like so far?

Can't go wrong with pretty much anything A.Fuente/Opus X (especially any with the white or black ring, the green ones are only alright for the most part), Tatuaje, Oliva and Padron. Those are the ones you can easily find and know it will at least be decent. The other guys could list a hundred more like that, but those are the obvious ones that came to mind.

Rocky Patel, Perdomo, Padilla and CAO are hit or miss.

Oh, and don't forget to stay away from Acid...unless you like flavored rat piss.

Keep doing what you do, come back from your banning with a different screen name (but make it obvious) and then send the broads some cupcakes.

You should be golden.

I'm not saying the idea isn't brilliant... it worked. If it's stupid, but it works... it isn't stupid.

I only got axed two or three times. Real short stints, and I posted as HomerJSimpson and Red Forman... but I stayed in character. BigGrin

Yo Phil - Aloha from Hawaii. ThumpUp

I never really got into that try-every-cigar-made mode but rarely smoke the ones I bought during my early months on this site so you might wanna slow down your Acquisition Phase. One thing for sure, your tastes will change. Save your money (...and smoke time...) for better cigars later.

Great Advice Palama, I had also spoke with the brothers here and they pointed me towards many great tasting smokes. As my pallet developed I found I was more attracted to full bodied smokes thus again with guidance pointing me in the right direction for my taste and also pointing me in the right direction for smokes within my budget. The wonderful thing about it all working out that way for me was I could afford good everyday smokes and also save money for the purpose of the more high end cigars for the special occasions.

This is great advice. I have hit the breaks but the damage was already done. Brick wall
