No- cant help you on how they are but have seen them and they are $$$$.. Seemed like a novelty to me but have been interested in the concept> I enjoy good bourbon. I have a question for the board and hopefully I wont spark the wrath of Wany because this is an unheard of act. Has anyone tried or is it possible to "flavor" your own smokes say with a misting of JD or another liquor ..? Not into flavored smokes at all but cant see paying $$$ for something that possibly could be done by us.. Think I'll go soak a Joya Del Jefe in a glass of JD for a day or two and let her dry out and stoke it up.. It wont explode will it ???

I think unklebill is the man to ask about this "self-seasoning" of sticks. I remember a post a few months ago that Bill wrote stating he tried it and it worked.

I have heard of just the thing. In fact there is a device on the market that does this for you. I don't know what it's called or where to find it but I have seen one and was told the results are nice. It looks like a cigar jar type of humidor but you put your liquor in it and the liquor apparently doesn't touch your cigars but still flavors them nicely. Sorry I can't remember the name but it does exist.

The cigar marinator. It supposedly accelerates the flavoring process by allowing you to "Pump out" the air and create a vacuum. Kinda like one of those wine bottle do-hickies. Those really do work, by the way (the wine one, I've never tried the cigar one). Oh yeah, I saw one of those cigar marinators once about 4 years ago in the International Cigar Club newsletter. Never since...

I don't know if I would try soaking your cigars. It can cause them to unravel, get lumpy or warp, burn uneven, plug and who knows what else. They need to soak up the vapors without touching the liquid ... and may take some time (months) to do it right. That is, unless you have one of those vacuum deals ... I believe that the 'process' is one of the reasons they are so expensive ... very time consuming.

I think if you "soak" any cigar in JD all you will get is cigar favored JD and an unsmokeable tabacco sponge. Just drink the JD as you smoke the cigar the flavors will marry. Build a humidor if you're that bored :)

First, the entire concept is ridiculous. Flavored cigars are so cheap does it pay to go through the trouble? Secondly and most important, this topic was clearly covered in earlier posts and your thread falls under violation of “pez candy’s” new “topic abuse” law. You have been officially docked one belt and have being reduced from a red down to a yellow belt. For thirty days, you must read these posts without responding. Pick up the dry cleaning for those who have green belts or higher. (I am a self-anointed black belt, granted the authority to impose such penalty) Most importantly you must collect and grade the 50 word summaries from those rookies looking to join our prestigious club. On a personal note, I am disappointed Cayman, I have high hopes for you. You have talent. This is a big miss on your part, and it will take some time before you earn the respect from the black belts on this board. I am on your side and will commit to doing everything in my power to vindicate your name. It will not be easy and the road will be long. Stay strong and use the force. ( Oh, Aberdeen likes starch in his shirts)

hegemonic, I am more than a little disappointed in your attempt to "out" me on the flavored cigar issue. I do not smoke flavored, Acid, Lars, nor wear women's perfume. I do not dress in women's clothing. I drink beer with my small finger bent inward towards the palm. I walk with a swagger and often glare unkindly at those appearing to be even vaguely different from myself. I flick ashes on the heads of passing children, at every chance. I take "first available" at restaurants and light up either way. Industry insiders have my phone and computer tapped. They are intimidated by my advice. CA has decreased the font of "Cigar" and increased the size of "Aficionado" on recent covers in deference to me. I wake up twice nightly to smoke Inmensos. I brush my teeth with the ashes. ................the flavored cigars were for my wife.

Years ago I took some tubed cigars (Bering?), rolled them in a paper towel soaked with 80 proof Wild Turkey, then put them back in the tubes. I smoked them months later. They were good, but there wasn't a noticeable flavor of bourbon. I may try this experiment again but not wait so long before smoking.

I haven't worked out all the rules yet but I agree this seems to be a clear violation of the cigar code. Even insinuating that you would defile the flavor of the golden leaf from heaven could be grounds for demotion and a loss of your cigar credentials. I believe we may have to assemble the triumvirate (boy I love big words) to decide this matter. Of course, the triumvirate is a secret counsel whose identity is know only to me. So, I will bring forth their decision as soon as it has been rendered. That is all.

1) I have never smoked a flavored cigar. 2) Thank you for the first several posts.. they were very informative- why I asked the question. 3) The soaking was a joke ( dah ) 4) Makers Mark's are not cheap.. 5) I would never think of doing that to a "good" cigar. Gonz- can you open a "slam board" for Wany.. this place is starting to get old.. why are there always one or two #@%& that wreck it for the many..

Instead of liquor flavored cigars, I like to have cigar flavored liquor. You just drop a cigar in your favorite glass of Scotch, wait a few minutes (for maximum absorption) and then drink it. It's a taste treat! Afterwards, you can wring out the cigar and put it back in your humidor for 6-8 monthes. You actually get to enjoy the same cigar twice!!

so , back to the original question , has anyone tried one of the makers marks yet?? , im not to wild about flavored cigars either except for lars if you can even consider them flavored, but if you like bourbon and you like cigars i think you would love the makers mark's.

I have a "Aromador" made by Jack Daniels and can do the same thing to a bunch of Little Havana Panatellas for less than $1.

I tried one about a year ago. Actually thought it was good. The bourbon taste is not overpowering, just right. The quality of the actual construction was good. Not an everday cigar for me, but a nice change once in awhile.

Once, while trying to enjoy a subpar smoke at a friends house, I actually dipped the unlit end into my snifter of grand marnier. It gave a good flavor to an otherwise unsmokable turd, and impressed my friend (my friends are easily impressed, that's why they're MY friends). Anyhow, I would never do it to a "real cigar, but if you want to satisfy your curiosity without major effort, this may do the trick. (IMHO, LOL, and all the other computer geek acronyms..)
