When in Boston, be sure to stop and visit what is, without a doubt, the BEST Cigar Bar in the city, Stanza Dei Sigari on Hanover Street.
OK, its the ONLY Cigar Bar in Boston. There used to be a couple others but they have apparently all closed up between the high rent and taxes.
Cigar prices are very steep and they charge a $10 cutting fee if you bring in your own, but they have top-shelf Bourbon, Scotch and Irish for reasonable (downtown Boston bar) prices with a VERY good pour.
When it got crowed later in the evening, I am sure many people where just lighting up without buying cigars or paying the cutting fee, but when I got there it was just me and two guys at the bar, so no way to be sneaky. I bought at Tatuaje Series P. It was $16! But, after that, they had no issue with me lighting up my own for no charge. The bartender said "you bought one here so that's fine."
It a small place in the Italian District down some steps. The people there (both staff and fellow customers) were very nice and friendly - something you don't always see in Boston. No food but folks were getting Italian sandwiches from nearby spots and bringing them in.
It actually has become a bit of a tourist attraction as it seems to be the last business in downtown Boston where you can legally smoke inside. While I was there several people just came down the steps to look around and take photos of people smoking.
