Never cared for their firsts, wouldn't be tempted to try what they consider leftovers.

The whole concept of "overruns" is confusing-overruns of what ? I have never tried PDR's overruns. I've tried some of their low priced cigars and they were not very good.

I tried a PDR the last week, took about 5 puffs on it and threw it out. Last time I do that.

concur....overruns/overstock/2nds....of a brand that is weak to begin with aren't generally worth buying.

Been a number of years, but seems to me there were a couple PDR's that were good:
-A maddie/oscuro with a black band...1878, or something....thin RG was decent smoke
-Another maddie with a blue or purple band that tasted pretty good, but, unfortunately, was virtually fireproof
-A buck-a-yard-gar (cbid price) with, I think a yellow band....SG, maybe?

Pinar Del Rio 1878 Cubano especial maduro ? The robustos were good, have some toros that have yet to be smoked, but they were 52 ring. Don't remember seeing a corona.

When I first started getting into cigars, my friends and I got the bug to attend smokers and we went to a PDR event with Abe Flores and Nandy Lopez, one of Abe's rollers. Abe, as expected, was very cordial and somewhat outgoing. Enjoyed his brief visit to our table and may have even bought a few more cigars after he left. Anyway, the samples we got were decent, but certainly not "gotta haves". Haven't bought another PDR branded smoke since (...the A. Flores line is much better...) and don't see myself breaking that streak any time soon.

I've smoked these (looong ago)

PDR Classico Torpedo
PDR Habano Sun Grown Torpedo
PDR Liga Cubana No. 5
PDR Oscuro Torpedo
PDR Selecion Torpedo

They were all mediocre (at best) yard gars, and a few were less than mediocre, namely the Selecion Torpedo
This sampling was enough to scratch them off my buy list permanently.
BUT! There's a couple botl I know who buy certain PDRs (forgot what they are) so there must be a few decent PDRs out there.

Still have a bunch of Liga Cubana sungrown # 5. Somewhat decent cigar but not worht the price- I keep putting them in the yard gar humidor. Still have a bunch of others above yar gar status. I've been smoking a lot of the A crop robustos, and the Oscuros make a good yard gar, but I had one a few weeks ago that was quite good - one out of 40 is not a good percentage tho.
