Are these things as buttery, smooth, and tasty as the site and CI catalogue say they are? Any stained lips, I mean they look great (not the stained lips, the cigars).

I was tempted to buy these and some Dark Sharks from the catalog a long time ago. Luckily I found this forum before I wasted the money. I have heard many bad things about them. Including stains.
What strength or type of cigar were you looking for? Post that and you will get
good
recommendations.

does anyone know how they get the wrappers so black? Is that natural, or do they dye them?
Also, I have my suspicions about those Estrella Cubana red wrappers.

I saw a Bohemian cigar that was so dark it had to be dyed. I have a thing with the wrapper being darker than the tobacco inside. It just seems wrong to me. The wrappers on those are black as the night, I don't trust them.

XJ, wet your finger and rub the wrapper, it comes off on you. Of course, it's permanent, and you will have to have the finger removed.
fidalgo negro's burn horribly wrong and IMO are not worth the time or money.

Do you lick your finger to wet it? Must pi$$ off the cigar shop owners when you test their cigars for color.

I got one of these in a sampler. If you want to try it its still in the garden state parkway Vince Lombardi Memorial rest area with the first inch burned off. Thats where I tossed it. Crap.

I love the Partagas Black Label torp, but looking at that wrapper on the Fidalgo made me wonder, it looked great. iI remember buy "factory fresh" cigars at CVS when I was young and the wrappers looked buttery like these and my lips and fingers turned a yellowish brown!

I got a 5 pack of Fidalgos a while back ... tried one, then left them in the humi a few weeks and tried another ... I still have the other 3 and would be happy to share ... all three to a good home or one each to some curious smokers ... neither I or anyone else at my house will be smoking them

I haven't tried any of the real dark gars. I think a trip to Club Habanos bar is in order this weekend they have a pretty broad selection. They have a huge Fuente (and associates) inventory. Any suggestions? Now if I can get past my wife.....

I have black lips after smoking both Fidalgo's and the Sharks I personally really enjoy both brands, and the stain is no worse than what I have after a rough night in the sack with the old lady.
I would recomend either, but not for the faint of hart. Dont pay more than 1.20 a stick or your getting raped though.
Peace and Love..........Leon

Here is the word back from CI about the "alleged" dye on the fidalgos.
I am sorry to hear that you are not fully satisfied with your recent order. The Fidalgo Negro is a very dark oscuro. The shade of this cigar is achieved by scorching the wrapper leaves at extreme temperatures after the fermentation process has been completed. In turn, as the cigar burns, oils begin to run and the shade of the wrapper can leave a residue on the fingers and lips of the smoker. However, this does not always happen.
They are saying that there is no dye used on the Fidalgos...69

Well, I tried a corona last night and my lips got brown, but not for too long as I washed it off. The cigar was rather inconsistant and occassionally harsh, but it wasn't to bad, especially after living through the cigar boom. I can't complain, but sometimes I still do....
