OxyContin is at the center of America's opioid crisis -- ODs have spiked 30% between 2016 and 2017. More than 300,000 Americans have died from opioid addiction. That said, OxyContin business is clearly booming, because the heir to the OxyContin fortune just paid $22,500,000 CASH for a Bel-Air mansion.

David Sackler, whose dad and uncles owned Purdue Pharma, which produces OxyContin, just closed escrow on the 4-acre property. It's an '80s masterpiece, with a long, private driveway that leads up to a 10,000-square-foot mansion.

The house has a 2-story atrium, ridiculous views, a media room, game room and gym. And it has the obligatory tennis court, pool and pavillion.

Sackler, who's in his late 30s, is a member of the family whose reported net worth is $13 billion.

I'd guess that 300000 mark is an under estimate

Maybe the property and mansion will be haunted by the ghosts of those killed by over-dosing from Oxy?

I find it interesting that cacman is super upset about a family getting rich off producing a drug with some medical benefit (I know TW doesn't like it, but I think there is at least some positive to it's use) and a large chance of abuse....

But he wants to promote quacks who sell medicine with absolutely zero medical benefit (holistic medicine) and which does kill people by convincing them they don't need actual real medical treatment.

So someone made a large amount of money legally. WGF? What was the first thing you did when you had major pain? Take a Vicodin and Vodka if I remember correctly. That's a good way to die from a bad interaction. You really need to stop being so judgemental. If I take Tylenol I don't have a drink in till the Tylenol is out of my system due to the potential long term damage that it could cause.

Acetaminophen and alcohol can cause liver damage. If I remember right that is what happened to Alonzo Mourning and Sean Elliott.

Tylenol is metabolized by the by the liver. So is alcohol. Hence, no alcohol with Tylenol. But, NSAIDs are metabolized by the kidneys...

I get tired of hearing all this negative BS. I've been on Norco for 10 years and live a very productive life. Go to work everyday play golf once a week and just live normal. With out it I'd probably be dead broke and living on welfare because of pain I wouldn't be able to do much at all. So when you live with constant pain for a long period of time (not just 3 or 4 weeks) then come back and talk to me about it and you would have a whole different view of the benefits of this type of drug.

Oxycodone helped me tremendously with pain after knee replacement surgery. Doc tried to switch after five days to norco, and I noticed the difference in pain reduction immediately. He authorized another 5 days and that worked. On norco for a week after that, then switched to OTC nsaids...

When I had open heart surgery Oxycodone didn't help the most. Percocete did. I took the minimum amount that helped. I was off of it as soon as possible. So I was on Percocete about 10 days. When I went off of it I had no problems.

^^^ Maybe you should be more concerned about the lying and deceitful practices our guberment allowed big pharma to use to create this epidemic and over 115 deaths per day, than the liver damage that may result from one person who takes 1/2 a vicodin (250mg) with vodka on two different days..

Love the double-standard and hypocrisy that IS Cbid. You're a hero for surviving 10 days on Percs with no problems. How many milligrams where you taking per day?
