This would also imply that Baffert had a side deal with Geroux since I cant imagine a jockey sacrificing a big pay day and a place in history for the benefit of another horse he has no vested interest in.
Makes you wonder why a jockey with the credentials of Geroux, would ride a horse that had only one win and never raced in a G1 race before. For that matter.......it makes you wonder why Restoring Hope, would even be allowed to run the Belmont Stakes. I've learned through experience, that there are few sports industries, more crooked than Horse Racing..........but......it's nothing new. Been this way looong before my time. They all have to compete on the same stage and Baffert simply out-maneuvered (for lack of a better term
) the others. I just don't think it was necessary, especially with the goofy way Geroux used their strategy. I've watched the race 10+ times...........there is no doubt in my mind, what Geroux's intentions were and there is also no doubt in my mind......Justify would have won without any "help". Just added another stain to an already troubled sport......but I love watchin' dem horses run!!!
