He didn't fool anyone into thinking he was something he wasn't. He hasn't changed. He simply changed his political party. What if...big IF here...he really wanted to delay his life of luxury to make a difference? Look at the leadership this nation has had in recent times. He has more in common with Ronald Reagan than Barack Obama.
Everyone conveniently forgets he was writing checks, attending parties for the DNC his entire life. Anyone know who he called first when he decided to run for President?
