Knew nothing about him before yesterday....don't pay a whole lot of attention to the NFL beyond the Packers since I quit fantasy football a couple years ago. Very disappointed the Pack couldn't get it done yesterday, but loved Todd Gurley of the Rams stopping short of the end zone to ensure the opposition didn't get the ball again and sealed the game. Say what you will about the league, the players, etc. I thought it was a heads-up, selfless, team play. There's a bit of irony in that the NFL has become so dependent on fantasy and on betting....that Gurley basically said F-U to both, but ensured the win. Loved it.

*Of course, if it turns out that he bet on the O/U or the spread, we're going to be having an entirely different conversation, but I highly doubt that is remotely possible.

On the other hand, Ty Montgomery is not high on my list at the moment

He is the most complete back in the league, a physical beast and smart.

A lot of fantasy players and gamblers aren’t fans. That play had a huge $ effect

I think we knew the same Senior Chief.......was his name Killian?Fugger drank like a fish, smoked like a freight train and knew an old gal in every port that could suck the chrome off a bumper hitch.I loved that man

Nah....I was thinking of a tin can bosun....but coulda been any one of a number of 'em from back in the day...just recently connected with an eternally crusty QMCM that humbled me on a number of occasions....was never any question who ran that goat locker

On a completely different note, Ty Montgomery's refusal to take a knee has resulted in him becoming a Raven problem instead of a GB problem

seen lots of great running backs...can't remember the last one that was the difference in winning a Super Bowl.

Ya gotta have the QB in today's game, the QB with 65% completion rate or more. Just read the other day that running plays are at an all time low, while rushing yards per carry stat is up...probably due to the threat that passing makes, not the other way around.

This is the opposite of what we all were taught not so many years ago...establish the run to make the passing game work. Not anymore. Brady to Edleman for 5 or six yards, very low risk factor, is the new running game.

Funny......the Senior Chief I was referring to was a QMCS.I started my career as a signalman. On Perry Class Frigates SM's and QM's are in the same division due to not having a signal bridge, and of course now the QM's handle all SM duties,or so I'm told.

Lot of running backs are catching passes out of the backfield in today's nfl...James White is pretty much a slot receiver for the Pats

yep. I did get some of my stats from Felger (Boston radio guy) but it has been coming for several years now.
The Giants drafted an indisputable talent in the first round this year, a running back.
Will not make a difference in their record, but a QB may have become the BIG difference in two or 3 years, just in time for the RB to start fading and/or limping.

top 3 pick on a running back is dumb. There are plenty of 5th round guys available to do the job required in today's running attack.

ed zachary.

and you don't even need anyone who lasts longer than 2 or 3 years anymore either. Might be the most replaceable position in today's NFL.

My gut feel is that the refusal to take a knee was the last straw and there were other factors that led to the trade. Perhaps his lack of playing time and the emergence of Aaron Jones and Jamal Williams caused Montgomery to be a locker room cancer. As such, getting a 7th round pick was better than cutting him and getting nothing. Suspect Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix was also either a head case or assignment-poor so they got rid of him to clean up the locker room.
