Transsexual Manning asked for help breaking a code and Assange said they’d help but never did.
Love seeing the “patriots” line up to lynch the whistleblower
condensed version from today's Boston Globe Editorial section:
charges are "conspiracy to commit computer intrusion". Period.
he's charged only with a hacking crime, not free press publishing crime(s).
Single charge, dates to 2010, relates to conspiring with Manning to hack into a U.S. Government computer and steal secret documents.
Facing up to 5 years in prison if convicted. No current plans to seek espionage charges barring new evidence, which seems proper.
So, why is he one of the good guys?
I'm often on the side of whistleblowers, I don't see him in that role. I'm leaning toward an opportunist who broke into US government security for profit, not to save the world.
I'm not even convinced wikileaks is part of the press...maybe, maybe not. Not gonna matter in this case anyway. Never look at it so not qualified to render an opinion.
