I smoked one of the original blend churchills last night. You could tell it was a Pepin blended cigar. Good amount of spice, but very smooth with a hint of sweetness.
I tried one of the new Robs this afternoon. Bitter and harsh. The only note I could pick up was mouth drying wood, and no Pepin spice. The wrapper split half way through, but the band saved the end. I waited until I got past the split to see if it improved. Nothing but dry wood. Not sweet cedar, but dry wood. Like smoking a 2x4.
Could they improve with age? Maybe, but I'm not bidding on any more.
Oh, and no clint, I wouldn't even put it in my yard gar category, and folks here know I smoke some pretty cheap cigars.
