Is 18 a higher percent of their population than number of all people killed as a %?
yes, they were considered victims of hate crimes...I included that tidbit as I scrolled though several articles about the over-all rise in numbers of hate crimes over the past 2-3 years, and whether political rhetoric has increased the incidence of hate crimes over-all...

dunno about the percentages, but I don't think the percentage of trans people in the total population is all that high...18 killings of people solely because of their sexual orientation seemed kinda high...and given the anti-trans rhetoric by Trump and other institutions...wondering if there is a correlation
the accurate determinative number would be to compare the numbers of hate crime victims of other protected classes: Jews, blacks, whites, Muslims and their overall percentage of the population...but my level of concern isn't high enough to motivate me to look that up for you...be my guest...
