I'm sure a lot of you saw this, but did not see a thread yet. A Judge invalidated the FDA rule on warning labels on Premium Cigars.
The Court Ruled that the Rule requiring a HUGE warning label (at least 30% of the cigar box) on Premium Cigars was illegal: The Judge said that the "[R]ule’s warning requirements for premium cigars is hereby vacated, and this portion of the Rule is remanded to the agency for further proceedings consistent with this Memorandum Opinion,”
Part of the Judge's rational was that: “premium cigars have different usage patterns than other cigar and tobacco products, they are almost never used by youth, and they are instead used by older, higher income, and better educated consumers.”
The decision invalidates the the FDA warning label requirements and declares the rules are null and void. The issue has been sent back to the FDA to define what a premium cigar exactly is. No info yet if FDA will appeal, but - given that they have said "Premium Cigars" are a low priority - perhaps they wont. The rational the judge used, if it stands, bodes well for the other parts of the cigar rule that are also being challenged.
In other news our good friend and part-time Russian Troll Joomira seems to have had his post/thread deleted. However, he was spotted smoking a Swisher Sweet at the Iowa Democratic Party Headquarters during the Caucuses last night.
In an interview with CNN he proudly said: "Best vote reporting App Iowa have. Only top result quality. Contract with very good company provide votes. No problems here."
