Shopping for living room furniture. Some combo of chair, loveseat couch.

Talking to the smarmy sales dude, he looks at me funny when I tell him I don’t want powered furniture.

Tells me 85% of their showroom is powered. I can see where power might be a good option for the elderly or handicapped. But 85%?

He tried reassuring me by saying.... ten years ago, they froze up after a couple year. Now the electronics on them will last 6-10 years. AND there is a whole industry of electronic furniture repair so... no problem!

I that case, I’ll take five of each!

What the hell is happening?! Get off my lawn! fog

I got the one with the built in microwave. I can make my popcorn and not have to leave the couch.

Yes, get off my lawn.

On another note... I saw a gorgeous 21' 4" Mako boat at Bass Pro yesterday. It was only $60,000. Didn't even have a fish finder / chart plotter. Not talking

The Commie 13 invented electric furniture. #12 was against it.

Furniture that reclines seems.... lazy.

That's not even considering the powered option

After some unnatural flooding a couple years ago, I was dismayed that nearly all the options were powered.

However, I'll admit that it didn't take all too long to get used to the fine tuning (especially lumbar).... and the usb ports are nice, too

not exactly....didn't want to put myself in the same category as folks like Anthony and the unfortunate people of Jackson MS, etc.

Had one of those short, 10 inch sink supply lines burst on the top of three floors...on a day when we were gone for 12 hours. Came home to over 12 inches of water in furnished basement and all floors and ceilings for lower two floors destroyed. All said and done, insurance company was out nearly 18 grand.....insane amount of damage, heartburn, money...etc...for a stupid 5 dollar hose. Have since learned that at least three other units (townhouse) in same development have had similar problem/results. Hard to believe the insurance companies don't communicate this crap to each other...do a little analysis.....and then go out and provide, or replace those hoses for all their clients in the area...at least those built by same contractor in same decade....I tried to put out PSA via HOA, but they didn't think it important enough to share...wtf...lol

If you walk into a flooded house with powered furniture, you could literally get the electric chair.

Wow. Sorry to hear this. I have heard of this happening with the cheaper plastic supply hoses, so several years ago I upgraded everything at the Jersey house to the "armored" hoses. One night I had just gone to bed when I heard a hissing sound coming from the hall bath. I jumped out of bed and was confronted with a burst toilet supply line. By the time I turned off the supply valve, there was a half inch of water on the floor. We threw towels on the floor and soaked the water up quickly, but I still had to do sheetrock repairs to the dinning room ceiling. All this from a supply hose burst that lasted maybe 60 seconds. I dread to think of what would have happened if we had been out, or downstairs when the hose burst. Even though the hose was armored, the metal end had separated from the hose. I know they make "flow sensors" for washers and such that automatically shut off if a burst is detected, but that doesn't help with sink and toilet supply hoses.

Ok, I'll be the one to admit it. A couple years ago we replaced our living room furniture. Our new pieces have power recline, power head rests, and multiple USB charging ports. We love our new furniture, and the charging ports are extremely convenient. Paid $1500 total for a power leather sofa and loveseat. Even though the store was in Jersey, their warehouse was a half hour away in Delaware, so I hooked up the trailer and picked the pieces up. That decision saved us over $100 in Sales Tax, and $200 in delivery charges.

Hope it works out for you. The more complex the machine, the higher the maintenance costs and the more expensive the repairs.

No, I'm not going to say Use women as an example. You sexist bassards need to back off.

One advantage I like about my electric recliner is you don't have to bring the footrest all the way to horizontal. The back adjusts independently as well.

Frankie & Drafter can give you a loan at (un)reasonable rates. Significant penalties for late payments. Might not be able to accurately measure your bourbon by fingers.
