Just wanted to say thanks for all of the help and ideas from a few months ago.

I started my project a few days ago and I've made about 20 purses along with 2 family members. These are most of them.

We still need to line and add closures to some of them. I seem to be having difficulty finding the hinges, although I've yet to go to the Ace Hardware or mom & pop hardware.

We already have a few parties booked and a showing in November at a restaurant...pretty cool for a few days work!

E-Chick

did you lose my plans?

you don't have to change the hinges, they are strong enough. you need to get small brass liding closures at one of the chain hardware stores where they have thing hanging for you to pick. they are like a question mark and slide into a loop that comes with it, and you need some very small brass screws to mount the hook thing.

Did you make the family members out of cigar boxes also? Are they in the picture?

You should only use wooden boxes that are not held together by paper.(I think Rick said or meant this) Is that why you think you need hinges?
What color liner are you gonna use? I see a lot of animal prints. Some people put a string across the inside so it doesn't open up too far.
Looks like a good start. You can see how good of a friend Jimmy is when you ask him for an OPUS box.

There's a repoduction hardware store in most malls...I can't remember the name, unfourtunately. They might have what you're looking for. If not then a search on the WWW for antique hardware.

I like some of the handles that you used.

Oh come on E-Chick ... let's get a little creative, and make a few Like these, they're right up your alley ...

Or maybe it would be more fitting to visit 'Blonde Girl Accessories' ...

... and check out the prices they are asking!!!

Also, you might be interested in this ... or this.

I'd be more impressed if you made a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Do you really use these things out on the town or are they more of a decorative piece for your place?
