To divert my compulsive purchasing I'm giving posting to the forum a go. Instead of hitting "BUY NOW". I'll come here and ask stupid questions and give even dumber opinions, then let the chips fall.

At the advice of Delta1, I'm introducing myself on a separate new thread. Part time inexperienced smoker but my spouse would list smoking/drinking as a reason to live. I was gonna say raison d'etre but the ensuing consequences, oy! So forget I said that.

Like I said in my prev post, I'm the buyer of all things important and I come here to lurk, laugh and learn. Figured I would take my beating and them be able to see if my latestest buying spree will please or pissoff.

As I buy and share smokes I learn a little better the preferred profile but it's pretty subjective. I've bought plenty of cigars that were tossed, called rope and worse. Trying to make better decisions. Informed. So here I am. Hello and TIA for all your help.

Apparently joining didn't help my addiction. I just paid for a box of Maestro Belicoso Aging Room Quattro by Rafael Nodal on a different auction site. BUT, it was a hondle ( I think?) $116 plus tax minus 10% military discount and free shipping. But now I have to stop. I need a cheaper hobby.

Of course, I take no responsibility for what outcomes happen with the wife, and if she asks leave my name out of it.

Welcome, benja. Two main things to remember here: 1) Losing a bid is a sign of weakness. 2) Watch out for commies. That's pretty much it. Enjoy your stay!

Hey Palama, I almost went to HI, it looks sensational but I couldn't find a place that would let us smoke. Even outside- lots of condos are smoke-free zones. Is it like Ca where you can't smoke on beaches? I should find the link for the "jungle cottage" that asks guests to refrain from eating meat. They did allow smoking tho. Am I wrong? Or is paradise ruined?

I can’t really answer your question about this but here’s a couple of quick to ask yourself before you bid:

1. Do you like Connecticut Broadleaf?
2. Do you enjoy smoking Churchill size cigars?
3. If you smoke one and don’t like it, how many more chances are you gonna give it?

If yes to the first two and “2 or 3 times” to the third then *MAYBE* go for it.

Ultimately it all comes down to personal tastes and preferences as well as fiscal responsibility.

Palama, you are my lifeline. That fiscal responsibility bit drug me back to reality. Thanks buddy.

Churchills aren't our favorites and we already have a 20bundle of these in Robusto that we haven't cracked open yet. I think I paid 1.50 per stick. Probably overpaid. I'm sure someone will tell me.

Yah, harder and harder to find smoking spots, let alone cigar-friendly places. I believe most parks and beaches are smoke-free. There are 4 bars that I know of that allow cigar smoking but other than that, not too many other places. Heck, at this one condo across the street from where I used to work, you can’t even smoke on the sidewalks! You’d have to cross the street and smoke on another property.

When we left CA for Texas 15 years ago it was starting like that. Heck, even Mexico is getting in on it. And don't start me on the change from 50 cigars per person to 25 allowance coming through customs down there. Started vacationing elsewhere when they pulled that change. Two+ week vacation- 50 cigars won't cut it. And buying down there is out of the question. Horrible fakes and way too spendy.

Hope you didn't pay $ 1.50 for those Ichi Mad churchills. The few I have tried have not even been good yard gars. Cigars are selling like toilet paper, buying now will probably not be for a good price.

Thanks Golden and agreed.

Tony- I have Palama to thank for backing out of the Ichi Mad churchill bid but I did previously pay 1.50 per stick for a Robusto bundle. Also unsmokable?

I haven' tried the robusto and do not even have any. All mine are churchills, maduro and CT. Paid $ 1 and $ 1.15 a stick and DPN can probably get them cheaper.

We used to buy the 60count Ammo by Finca as a cheap yard gar but they changed something and I no longer recommend. So much time on my hands right now I am trying to infuse them with a bit of rum in a tupper box along with a few other turds. Can't make them any worse.

I went there, currently in a dry spell keeping my body like a temple during the CV outbreak. It was still scary.
Plus I discovered after many attempts no one really wants my opinion and I've never changed someone elses with my ravings. I keep em to myself. Like my Throne Room Cigars!
