I built this humidor out of walnut. It measures 18"x 11"x 7" high. It comfortably holds 100 cigars.

Very nice, I like the glass window.

I wonder, does it need checking on more often than a humi without glass?

I hope you don't keep it in direct lighting or sunlight.

Walnut has long been my favorite hardwood ... THAT, sir is nothing short of stunning ... a humidor of that quality and size would command a rather substantial price IF it were possible to purchase one ... that's is truly something you can take great pride in having constructed ...

You are a real craftsman, my friend. Be-autiful.

But one question...

What dogs have you got hidden under all the good stuff on top?

Wow! I am overwhelmed by the nice comments. Thanks! It took me a few months to make. It was my first experience with woodworking. Many redos. The glass top is sealed by lining the inner top with cedar. Holds RH just fine. There ARE some cigars on the bottom that require serious aging. I need another one so I can properly rotate my stock.

Are you looking for attention and nice comments!?

Just kidding xrundog! I took some flack and still have that chip on the shoulder. It will pass...

I STILL think it's nice and you haven't answered me about the glass and keeping the humidity level just right.

Thanks E-chick. I will try to answer your question: If I take the glass out, it will no longer keep good humidity. That what you had in mind? ;)

You are right Heg! We must have used the same plans. I saw the plans advertised in a magazine. Bought them at The Woodworkers Store in San Diego. They had hardware kits too. Pretty convenient.

Is that the place on Clairemont Mesa Blvd?

Ron, forgot that we're neighbors!

I'm glad that xrundog mentioned The Woodworkers Store. I never would have thought to check if they might have hinges/closures for my cigar box purses. Just don't want to fight to I-5 traffic!

Love this collective knowledge!

Xrun, just thought that the addition of a continual light source via the glass might change the temp of the box and thus the humidity...higher OR lower.

Never let a blonde think...

Ron, that is the place. They have everything you might need. I bought all the wood there too. Pricier than Home Depot, but better quality. E-chick, they will have the piano hinges you need. Good point about temp. I would never put any humidor in sunlight. Glass top or no. I have it a cool shaded corner. Those cigars are aging nicely. The wrappers becoming glossy and moist (aaahhh moist!). I look in on them frequently.

Sounds like we could form a quorum for a mini-herf. How about before the next Charger game? We tailgate in H2 (for about the last 20 years).

E-chick, to be more precise; the glass top does not seem to affect evaporation time of the humidifier. I check it about once a month or so. No problems. Dang! I live in TN now! Enjoy the miniherf.

Hey bud! That was a great game for us. A little weird with the over being 44 and the Iggles not kicking a field goal to conclude their final drive...
