I know there are a lot of Tat fans out there. If I were to buy a box, what would y'all suggest? I've had the Fausto, and loved it!

The Fausto is my fav so far but I've only tried the Broadleaf Tainos (brown label) and about 5 different Skinny Monsters (I like the "Frank" best so far). A good value Tat is Cabaguan Guapos RX can be had for $5 or under on the tenski site. Tattoo also a good value. I, like you, have many more to explore.

My opinion...

the best skinny monster is the mummy...

The best regular production tatuaje is probably one of the cojonu's...

Best for the buck is probably the black lancero....

Oppie, I saw the Cojonu on Fox Cigar recently and thought they looked pretty darned good! I like cigars on the stronger side, and the Fausto hit those notes for me. That being my only Tatuaje so far, I don't have any others from the line to compare it with, but I certainly enjoyed it!

Haven't had a Fausto in years but I found them to be more strength than flavor... the cojonu's are still strong but evolve during the smoking process... I'm a fan of the cojonu 2012 Sumatra and the 2003...

the 2012 cojonu is in my top 5 of go to smokes when I want something I really enjoy.

Carson, much like you I enjoy strong cigars, and the cojonu delivers strength while balancing with nice undertones and great complexity as you smoke it.

First of all, I would suggest not buying a box based upon suggestions posted by other forum members. Not that the suggestions aren’t good but everyone’s palate is different and you may not like what someone else loves. With that being said, I would suggest smoking as many of the suggestions as you can and then decide which one you like the best.

Getting involved in the Non-Elitist PIB is probably a good vehicle to ask for Tats you want to try.

Good luck!

Plenty of good blends in the line. Problem is I can't find many really good deals on Tats. One of the best deals used to be a 20 box of Verocu #9 for under $90 at another site. Long gone now.

Love Tatuaje lanceros, 2012 Cojonu (all 3 wrappers), 7th (all three wrappers), Petite Corona Reserva is the best for the $ IMO and hard to beat at any price point. Tattoo is another that’s hard to beat for the $ and they age really well.

I’m not a big Verocu fan.

L’Atalier is another Tatuaje line you should look at love those too.

Tat 7th line is good all around but I love the capa especial. Broadleaf used to be their specialty but I feel they have fallen off on that wrapper. The sumatra wrapper cigar they put out though are still very good imo.

^ true, the broadleaf doesn’t seem to be as good on recent releases.

It isn’t as dark and doesn’t have that “Golden” Tatuaje sparkle.

no idea how I forgot them, but the 7th capa especial was the first tat I ever had that I loved... and the first tat I bought a box of...

For my money the Tat Miami Especiales or the Tat Black Petite Lancero's are as good as it gets.I love both but the Especiales would probably get the nod at #1

Yeah I pick up a Tattoo box of 50 on Freefall each month for around $168. ($3.35 each).

It's a nice daily Tat.

I'm not a fan either of the new Verocu line. The #9 I was talking of were made with the same recipe as the original Eastie and Westie which are among the best Pete even made IMO.

+ 1 on L'Atelier...I especially liked their De La Racine from 2015 and 2016...smoking some of the Cote d'Or 2017...great and complex flavors...both, however are pricey to start and discounts are thin, if you can find them...

somewhat lower in price is the L'Atelier Identite Melange Special...also very good...with decent discounts

another line of Tatuaje cigars that are lower in price, and can often be found discounted more than other lines, is the La Riqueza...good solid smoke

CtC - as you get more and more suggestions, maybe narrow down the choices based upon the wrapper used. If you find Habano wrappers to be the cat’s meow, then focus in on those blends. If you haven’t yet found a preference then try and smoke a variety but in the same or similar vitola

I gotta say, these are all amazing recommendations! I'm not new to cigars at all, but I find there are MANY out there I have not tried, or even knew about. If it weren't for this fantastic group of friends and brothers, I wouldn't be expanding my palette and discovering all these amazing cigars. So thank you, everyone!!!

Can't say about the blacks... haven't had one in a while...

I've seen some tat rc's for sale recently.... from what i can gather they don't actually make these anymore, but I could be wrong... anyone know if/how long ago they stopped making these?

I smoked my last RC233 last week. It had to be over 10 years old.

Pete started making 3 new sizes in the RC about 3 years ago but they only sell them overseas.

same place you sent me to find the lfd lancero's... they'd been trying to auction off a box for over a month with no takers... no idea why but I was worried it was some new production stuff... i couldn't take it any longer and finally grabbed it...

Nice....haven’t been actively buying or looking. I know what Pro said is true about the 3 expansions being Europe only. I don’t know for sure the RC production was stopped, but they’re typically a slow seller for shops. I hear manufacturers always say Coronas, lanceros and lonsdale don’t sell well but huge figuardos that detail over $15 don’t either.

The $15 jawbreakers not selling I get,I'm not a fan at all. However I sit in bewilderment at cigar smokers who shy away from the smaller ring guages. If you want to know what a particular line of cigars are supposed to taste like,in most cases but not all,try a 42-44 rg cigar in the line.

7th Reserva and the Cohete are two of my favorites.

La Mission de L'Atelier is also a good smoke.

My favorite Tat is the Serie vl and I really don't think it's that close. Give them babies about 3 weeks to a month and you got a very, very good cigar. It is the only cigar that I know of which is similar in taste to Caldwell's Long Live The King.

Cojonu 2012 and lat Racine are top of my list for regular production tats

7th brown label and 7th Reserva are also great

10th anniversary also has a great flavor

Haven't had a bad lat, even surrogates are good (I like the crystal baller)

my local that gets some unique stuff that doesn't sell well had a box of 10th anni's with a note on the box explaining they were the original release from 2011... they were alright a few years ago, but they really hit their stride about a year back and I ended up buying most of the last of the box... I let the owner of dapper cigars buy a few too since the shop boy told me he was really enjoying them as well...

Went through many boxes of 7th Reserva back when they were on that site that let you set your own price. Memories.
