what's the deal with Ambrosia and auctions

I keep looking to bid on a five pack out of curiousity, but hells bells the bidding for them is always at CI retail or more. I am not complaining here about overbidding, I guess I may just have to break down and buy a five pack from CI direct and be done with it.


But on a similar note, is it me or is it gradually getting more difficult to get really good deals on the better cigars? I remember when the auctions first started and you could have the pick of the litter, but obviously as more people sign up, the deals will be getting tougher and many of the cigars I have been wanting to try on the five pack auctions I have been almost always paying my top bid price which isn't too much less than the retail, and I am getting out bid much more frequently than I use to. Not complaining, just observing. Of course the rubbish cigars you can still get for a dime a dozen but I am not about to invest an hour of my time choking on those.

You have fallen victim to the win-at-all-cost bidder. How do you think CI makes money here anyway. Unfortunately, many of the bidders do not shop around the internet and are not aware of the deep discounts available. Without naming names I've found CI to be about the 5th best for value. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time some idiot high on cat tranquilizers bids $120 for a box of crap. Oh well, a fool and his money ..yadda...yadda..

They are new and hard to find. Everyone wants to try one. People are willing to pay a little more for good service. If you are already registered here you don't have to hunt around and register at another site.
Kinda like a convienience store. You could drive a little further and wait in line and pay half price.
