In 2018, by volume of sales, it was the largest craft brewery, sixth largest overall brewery and largest wholly American-owned brewery in the United States. Mostly available on the East Coast and South East but i believe they are working on or have just gone national.
Despite Yuengling being around forever it wasnāt a very good beer and the company wasnāt very successful. Then they came up with Lager and itās popularity soared. Brewed and distributed just locally they had a huge following with limited capabilities. Then they took over an old Strohs plant in Tampa which enabled them to increase supply to meet demand, but still limited which states it was sold in, up the East Coast. A recent partnership with Molson has allowed them to distribute further west. They are still the oldest American brewing company and largest American owned as well.
If you dig into their history youāll see how they brewed straight through Prohibition and how the day the Prohibition ended they sent President Roosevelt some beer to celebrate the good news. I know many old timers in the area would get prescriptions from their doctors for the beer claiming their porter beer had redeeming values for their healthy wellbeing.
