I went to get yesterday's mail, and noticed my mailbox was drastically leaning to one side.
I was surprised to find a nicely wrapped and labeled package inside from John, along with some
advertisements to get my septic tank pumped, and a couple of bills.
I brought the contents inside and discarded the offer for septic service, and carefully opened
the wrapped box checking for trip wires and explosive devices (felt a bit like Jonesey must feel when
opening mail).
Inside the box was a nice 5er of smokes, all never hads, and 10 cds of fantastic blues that John had taken the time
to burn for me. Well, I do love me some blues, and he sent some great ones. Also included was a very nice personal note.
The discs were Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson, and Little Charlie and the Nightcats.
I immediately plugged in the Nightcats disc, because I was not familiar with them. Well, it turns out I have seen them
play a couple of times Live. They have played as Rick Estrin and the Nightcats at the Blues Festival I go to every year
in the White Mountains of New Hampshire...they will be playing at the festival again this August.
Anyway, I cannot express my surprise and gratitude for this incredible unprovoked gift from John, a great gift from a
great brother. He really did brighten my day, and I can't thank him enough, but I can try...
Thank You So Much John...Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
Pabst Blue Ribbon, of course LoL
Almost forgot, also included in the box was some great Sonia Dada memorabilia...another great band John turned me
on to a few years back in one of his infamous Spear Prizes...Thanks again John
