I'll tell you my trades if you'll tell me yours.
The indices have nothing on me
Sure I'm a sucker for dividends but show me the money
Tax free muni-bond you say? Tell me more
Ok, hows bout' a top 5 stock pick?
Your a bear? What can we short?
Give me your bottom 5
Why isn't Twitter at $54.20 yet?

I don't do individual stock picking. I don't have the time or energy for the due diligence needed to make good picks. I mostly do boring broad market index fund ETFs.
Back in 2020 I was more active and was doing swing trades when any monkey could make money in the market unless they were a complete idiot. Was up about 40% ytd in 2020 but then things started coming back down to earth early in 2021. I sold out of all the speculative stuff on the slide down and back into into index ETFs. I made a nice profit but the fun was over.
I don't mess with my 401(k) or IRAs much other than adding money on a periodic basis and re balancing quarterly. Again broad market index funds, kinda sorta follow the Bogle investment strategy.
With that said, I moved some money around in my Roth last year to add a heavy load of PSLDX. (
https://www.optimizedportfolio.com/psldx/
). I don't have the gonads large enough to go full into a HFEA strategy (
https://www.optimizedportfolio.com/hedgefundie-adventure/
) so I went with PSLDX. It's been getting killed this year as both stocks and bonds have been taking a hit.
If you are one that likes dividends PSLDX might be worth looking into. MAJORITY of their returns are dividend distributions. It's very tax inefficient so it's not a good one to use in a taxable account. (
https://www.dividendinvestor.com/dividend-history-detail/psldx/
)
One Brokerage account is:
- The S&P 500 ETF (~
50%
) as a core. I'd do VOO but my brokerage doesn't do fractional shares so went with SPLG.
- VONG added for a tech tilt (~
20%
). Use to use QQQ but did some tax harvesting last year Sold QQQ and bought VONG to avoid a wash sale. Might go back to QQQ, we'll see.
- AVUV for additional small cap value exposure (~
10%
).
With these these three ETFs I'll likely sit on and let it ride while adding periodic deposits along the way to feed them.
What I'm missing is pure international exposure. This is intentional as I'm "home country biased" to US companies.
Also have a splash of utilities using FUTY (~
5%
).
That leaves 15% for play/gambling. Been buying into UPRO (3x leveraged S&P 500) as the market has been sliding so I'll sock some of this away for a bit while waiting for the market to recover. Currently down about 10% on UPRO but a daily 5% flip flop either way is not out of the norm for a 3x leveraged fund.

I have been a Boglehead for about 45 years. Learned long ago that the way to beat most active investors and even the pros was to not churn my equities. Switched most of my S&P 500 funds to ETF (VOO) for tax advantages when they first appeared.
Never have been much of a gambler but just an investor letting it ride.

^ I like these plays
Thanks
I had planned on being out of most of my positions before now but with margins so tight on real estate right now I'm still trying to beat inflation in the market for the moment.
CF has been my main bet at $29 I dipped my toe then quickly jumped in
I'm still aiming at $150 but I may sell at $110 if it gets there
MOS & LXU have been my 2nd favorites in the Fertilizer game while these have been very good to me, resistance has been met
LMT - Lockheed Martin, LOW - Lowe's. (May take profits on these as well & look to get back in around midterms)
NS - Nustar energy, & PLUG are 2 companies I love that I've been watching for years & finally added at what I hope is a bargain
Personal Hydrogen power plants for residential use. It's coming!
KLIC - I had to buy this when it dipped recently to $46
Who doesn't like a sexy semiconductor engineering firm?
I won't scare you with some of my other riskier plays as I do like to gamble. Private local investment group for that though
Some boring "safe" bets have been in CIM & NLY - they may finally turn up
MAAGX may find a bottom soon for an added boring play
Always looking for solid Cos.that have low P/e ratios & dividends so keep me in the loop you savvy cigar smoking venture capitalists
Let's make money

Anyone out west know of Dutch bros ?
Any thoughts?
We don't have any on the east coast but the numbers looked good so I bought at $27 a few weeks back sold today @$41.
I like my profits but I'm having sellers remorse on this one.
I put a limit buy order in at $27 in the event it dips down again

Cop has become my biggest holding, avgo my second largest
Sold 105 covered calls on cf and got executed a few weeks ago
Bought wmt and dg on their recent big dips
Schd is my biggest etf holding
Backed the truck up on semis (amd, mu, nvda) when they were near 52 wk lows. Have owned on since it was like 13 and want to sell some calls but think I still like it long

OK, with a recession looming, where would you stick 25K in cash right now?
SP500?
Bonds?
Under Jonesie's matress?

Intersting, how long do you plan to hold them? Am I reading correctly that you loose the last three month's worth of accrued interest if you cash it prior to five years?

I drink Dutch Bros occasionally, their new CFO (3-4 years OTJ now) is a fancy boy from SF and has ruined the family vibe of the business. It was started in Grants Pass OR.
Only bear I can think of is DrafterX.

I just consider it a small part of the portfolio so most likely it will be held for years unless the next reset rate(after Oct 2022) looks askew. I'm not making anything with cash sitting around in MM or bank accounts anyway.

Today was a relief
Hit a few sales today that finally went green
TWTR went at $40.20
It did hit $40.50 before dropping.
Who bought that at $40.50? Not Elon! Has he sold his shares yet? Poor noob.
Good riddance
I did gamble on a tip from a corporate lizard but went with AMD at $82.20 & INTC at $39. instead.

Bought nvda yesterday morning shortly after open, already had amd, mrvl and mu.
I had intc, lost some on it, but made it up hill running on the others. No longer on intc.

Gambling on spy hitting 100 ma and possibly a 200 ma tap.
Just using spy as a metric. Thought about calls, but sh*ts been creeping more than spiking.
So I want to see another candle or two

That's a decent look...
Thought about jumping on some energy related stuff, just not sure if it's done poopooing yet.
I like the play though.
I bought some COIN puts earlier today... gambly, it was already down a bunch, but it's earnings are coming up, kinda betting they are trash.
Plus the SEC news.
