TR receiving that medal rivals the idiocy of Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize. Incidentally, Roosevelt, the warmongering imperialist who warned of "the menace of peace," was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906 for “for his role in bringing to an end the bloody war recently waged between two of the world's great powers, Japan and Russia”
That just goes to show you that what most people have been told about the history of the so-called greatest presidents of all time based on popular opinion is BS.
Teddy and his Rough Rider volunteer cavalry of city socialites and cowboys didn't charge San Juan Hill, they were behind the regular infantry that took San Juan Hill. Bully Boy and his Rough Rider cavalry didn't have any horses because they couldn't get a ship to bring them from Florida. Teddy did find a horse though, so he could direct his men in a reckless charge up the lower Kettle Hill.
Under TR's foolhardy leadership. the Rough Riders suffered a 70% casualty rate from their Cuban adventure. WINNING!
Teddy was good at self-promotion though.
