Manhattan or New England?

(The correct answer is Manhattan)

Ohmysweetlordupinheavenabove!!!

There's no need to start a new argument based on a blatant falsehood. As if some weird orangeish concoction could compare to the creamy goodness of the New England version

I think Rhode Island has a thinner N.E. style...

Manhattan isn't clam chowder.

It's not even good tomato soup. I had some Manhattan Clam Chowder one time that had lima beans in it. That's a crime against God, Nature, and Man.

I'm not a sea food nor chowder fan so I have no dog in this fight but folks out here tell me that Legal Seafood makes some pretty good chowder (NE, not Manhattan).

Lima beans in chowder? That's totally F'ed up.

California makes a creamy style clam chowder that is better than New England. Pismo Beach, Monterrey, San Francisco, Bodega Bay….All up and down the coast.

It’s better because California has better clams.

Not me, I really do not care what others want to eat, after all, some people actually eat Roquefort cheese.

The really interesting part of this thread is how we can disagree in this thread, but remain relitively civil.

Was this agreement with Pliny as a total denial of pancakes, or are you missing punctuation? i.e. No, pancakes.

I pray for the latter. I've always respected you, Ram.

And Waffle House doesn't have sticky floors like IHOP. fog

In my area we have a couple SunRise Grill restaurants that have good waffles and panckakes, but I almost always order their Ruben sandwich with home fry potatos.

I've never had a decent Manhattan version.
And despite my New England roots, I've tried a few.

I think my open mind was born at the Big E. (don't take that sentence out of context).
In the replica state house for Rhode Island, they serve up a quahog chili that might be the best food I've ever eaten.
I've had clam chili before, and it's usually a white chili kinda like what schmucks do for chicken chili.
But this is a true red chili and has beans.
It's has a little spice, and whole quahog clams. Neck, body and all.

I hafta wear a bib just to type about it.

The Big E...when the coastline of Massachusetts rises 3 feet above the water line from all the weight that piles into western MA.

Don't quote me, but there's a ton of good eats in Rhode Island.

Manhattan Clam Chowder

2 8 oz cans of clams
2 8 oz bottles of clam juice
4 slices bacon
1 onion chopped
1 large celery stalk chopped
1.5 cups water
1.5 cups chopped tomatoes
1 large potato diced
1 medium carrot diced
2 Tbsp chopped parsley
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1 bay leaf
1 Tbsp tomato paste (add more if you want)

Cook the bacon until limp (the bacon is limp)
Add onion and celery and cook until tender
Drain the clams and just add the liquid to the pot (save the clams, RIP Wheelrite)
Add everything else to the pot except the clams
Cook 30 minutes
Add the clams
Cook 5 more minutes
Add salt and pepper to taste

Serve with French bread!
