My second car in my life was a mid 70's Ford Maverick. Two door, straight 6 engine. I think I bought it for like $350. Drove the thing for about 2 years. It was un-killable (is that a word?). Always started up even in the cold dark winters in WI. Then the the heater core sprung a leak. Wasn't worth fixing so sold it to the scrap yard.

My Grandfather had a Ford Maverick (guessing a 60's version) with "three on the tree." Again a steady reliable car.

How does this relate to the Maverick truck? No relation at all but the post brought back some memories.

With respect to "green energy" cars, I think hybrids are the way to go at this time for someone that wants the best of both worlds for an average car. I'm not sold on 100% electric vehicles for the typical person right now, lot's of hurdles that need to be overcome before they are are widely accepted and used (if ever in my lifetime).

Toyota is the biggest car manufacturer on the planet. They didn't get there doing stupid stuff. I would guess that they will be (and are) quietly on forefront of developing "green" vehicles and will be be a big player in the evolution from pure ICE to Hybrid to whatever we transition to for the next generation.

I've been waiting for the Toyota Hi-Lux to arrive in the US for a long time....................and it shows up as an EV.****!!!!!

I want the Hi-Lux and 4runner's we travelled in down in Panama..........DEISEL's......deisel's that could traverse streams and rivers with their snorkel outfitted intakes.

**** all EVmobile's............. I will never own one,I'm just as opposed to hybrid vehicles. When someone can tell me how they intend to deal with all the useless lithium leftovers I might have a change of heart. Also how they are intend to charge EV's using zero fossil fuel.

There’s a JDM HiLux listed locally here but it’s got the 3400 V6.

I’m pretty tempted, it’s a 93 with 114k miles, clean and right hand drive.

Oops, 126k miles.

It’s a “Surf” petrol version.

They're only 30% in on the green scam. They can see the forest for the trees.

My Wife and i are seriously considering the F150 Hybrid. Between the Power/speed it has, the tow capacity (we do a LOT of camping in a small camper) and the built in Generator nothing on the market can touch it right now for our needs/wants. She was really interested in the Full Electric but until they can get one with a minimum 300 miles under full tow load it just isn't feasible.

We are not all in on electric but love the concept of it and maybe one day when we are no longer putting thousands of miles on the road each camping season we will consider that route. hopefully the tec will continue to improve as well as the charger infrastructure across the country but for now we will have to settle for Hybrid. currently own 2 Gas vehicles but hope to be down to one by end of summer.

MSRP games afoot with this truck makes it not viable. At all.

Agreed the lightning price is crazy which is another reason we are looking to go with the hybrid instead.

Hybrid is a much better choice than the train wreck that is their EV F150.

You cannot go wrong with the 3400 v6...............I've had two, over 300,000 on the first still running fine when I sold it,280K on the second still going strong when I traded it.

Buy it.........you'll have no regrets.

The only engine I like better is the 4.0L DOHC 24-valve V6 VVT-i which is what powers my current Tacoma.Muthafuqqa tows my 22' boat better than most standard V-8's............it'll outlive me fo sho.
