Retirement is looming on the horizon. Cant hide at sea much longer. Wifey is biting on my neck to do something on land. She actually liked the idea of a cigar lounge. After all these years I think she is getting it.

Well describe your perfect cigar lounge, the furniture, the surroundings, style, finishes. What would be the perfect place you would like to see. Leather chairs, wicker chairs, Havana style , Caribbean style, old English, Modern club?

What extras? Soda machine, coffee maker, full kitchen, fridges for the club members to bring in stuff.

What about Humidors? Just the cabinets with the 1 foot cubes, or something bigger?

Your imagination is the limit, and the info you provide could have an effect on a lot of cigar lounges around the country.

It is your time to shine.

Depends. How do you plan to fund it? Private? Annual membership fee? Sales? of? Cigars? Booze? Liquor license?

leather chairs; more than one TV; outdoor section; if no kitchen, then good relationship with close places that delivers good food; if no booze, at least a good selection of soft drinks; free coffee; Wifi; don't close before 10PM - ever...later if patrons are watching late football; don't open after noon - ever; support good locals for herfs and bbq's, etc.; good ventilation is a must

The one that opened up downtown here a year ago is huge, 4000 sq ft two stories, 5 or so large flat screens, with a members room, dominoes/conference room, poker room, two public rooms, balcony overlooking our old courtyard, 3 bathrooms, downstairs seating area also, large humidor with mostly boutiques, three sets of lockers so far (each with 12 1ft cubes and 2 large footlockers for big buyer members), craft beer for sale and you can brown bag liquor, free water and glass bottle soda for members, mostly leather and wood furniture, old building with original hardwood floors and a lot of exposed brick and intricate doors and all that trendy stuff. He has been able to get 41 members in less than a year (at $450/year). Working on 24/7 access and he has half of a gated alley that he hasn't used yet (the other half is used by a restaurant/bar).

It's a young guy, mid 20s, putting it together. Probably not the most profitable route but he's enthusiastic and it's really developed a cigar culture here. Oh, and he did have a young female employee though she recently turned in her two weeks, but I'd expect another soon.

How's a lounge going to be ran by mooched cigars?

It's all about having nice cushiony chairs. It's obnoxious trying to enjoy a cigar in a crappy barstool. Also open early, the one near me doesn't open til 10 am and I have to wait to go in there half the time.

Why stop with just a cigar lounge? Make it into a full-fledged man-cave! Big screen/projector TV, Blu-ray collection comfy overstuffed leather easy chairs, a wet bar, popcorn machine, card tables, kitchen, library, gun racks, walk-in humidor filled to the rafters, and of course ashtrays/cutters/lighters at every seat.

Plus a couple of pretty waitresses/attendants and a big, ugly bouncer at the door.

And probably a producing oil well in the back yard to pay for it all.

Almost forgot: plenty of computers on a high-speed connection to CBid!

Wood and leather or it'll stink. Amazing ventilation, good enough if 200 people are smoking. At least 6 or 8 tvs. Wanna be able to have all games on and golf at the same time. I expect pretty much every Vitola of every cigar from every manufacturer in regular production. Every major scotch, bourbon, wine, and beer with all local crafts. A few hot waitresses, and your set.

So just copy my local.

Yeah, sd72 is right -- an "over-engineered" HVAC system with superb ventilation and HEPA filtration. And in addition to the main projector screen, enough big-screen TVs scattered around to follow all the games.

I recommend an easy-maintenance floor, so you can sweep out the ashes and peanut shells -- or hose it down and squeegee it out the back door (not too close to the patio and grill) when necessary. Possibly tile or linoleum over concrete.

Good ventilation.

WiFi

Well stocked and properly humidified walk in. I've only been to a handful But only one had this covered. One was so wet it smelled of mold when I opened the door, half the cigars were furry.

Two of my faves and their positives discovered while traveling around the US touring Army bases:

Do shop/cigar lounge names count as "the competition"? If so, I now risk my first ban-hammering, but I need one for my Platinum Membership application anyway, so here goes:

Up in Smoke, Clarksville TN. Walk-in humi, quality coffee, plenty of vendor nights/poker nights. Yoga studio two doors down (see post #13 above for rationale on that "perk")

Smokey Joe's, Fife WA (between Seattle and Tacoma): Recently remodeled. Great coffee and booze selection. Cute wait-staff (yes, the CBID ladies would have eye candy too). Home of the Seattle Pipe Club, Joe Lankford still makes meetings sometimes.

Both ideal for cold weather while out teaching-I'm spoiled as a San Diegan so these cold weather trips don't go well with smoking outdoors!

My local has a statue of wheel dressed in a funky little suit and hat. They must know him because it says to punch him.

Wonder if Spectre ever opened up his cigar shop? Think

But then again, iirc, he was exposed as a major b.s.er so probably not. Not talking
