Did some digging. Happened in '13. Dude was 35yrs old. The issue actually sold for $175k at auction, so I was a little off. However, reportedly the wife's aunt got a little grabby upon discovery, causing a tear that experts estimate devalued the book by $75k
Dude planned to pay off the house, pay off his truck pay off the wife's education, upgrade his tools, and possibly look into buying a 1992 Iroc Z
For reference, a much better condition copy sold for $3.4m in '22
For tangential personal sorrow, a 9.6 graded condition of X-Men #1 sold in '22 for $807k. This is one of the books keeping me from a complete X-men collection
