Florida bill would ban dogs from sticking their heads out car windowsBill would also require Dept. of Law Enforcement to create public registry of convicted animal abusers

A new Florida bill would make it illegal for dogs to stick their heads out of car windows in the Sunshine State.

State Sen. Lauren Book, a Democrat who represents parts of South Florida, introduced the animal welfare bill last week.

It would prohibit a dog owner from allowing their pet to "extend its head or any other body part outside a motor vehicle window while the person is operating the motor vehicle on a public roadway."

If the bill is passed, dogs must also be on a harness or in a pet seatbelt when traveling in a car.

While the sight of dogs enjoying the breeze is common across Florida and the rest of the U.S., it does pose dangers.

"Although most dogs love to stick their heads out open windows, the wind can seriously irritate mucous membranes and blow pieces of grit or other debris into their eyes," the Humane Society explains. "Pets could also be seriously injured by objects as you drive down the road."

The bill, SB 932, would also ban the sale of rabbits in March and April, require the Department of Law Enforcement to create a public list of convicted animal abusers, and prohibit cat owners from declawing their pets.

State allows people to ride motorcycles with no helmet... and I see it A LOT... and they're worried about a dog enjoying the breeze? I support people's right to ride with no helmet. I just assume someone else will finish using their vital organs.

GTFO of here with that bullsheit bill!

It might be my daughter who allocates those organs! She still does that part time while in school.

It figures it was a Democrat who introduced the animal welfare bill. Paternalistic LEFTY starts with denying puppy rights because the government knows best they say and then works its way up to denying rights to humans.

So, no open-carry of puppers...

Maybe residents can get a concealed puppy permit.

California has a bill submitted to ban police dogs because they are racist.

They’re more likely to bite minorities so…..there’s that. Probably why DrafterX kicks them.

I call helmet-less motorcyclist "donor-cyclists".

And, then when they crash and injure their heads, Medicare and Medicaid usually has to pay the bills because they are not required to carry insurance for their injuries. So, we all pay.

The legislature has more important matters to be working on

Motorcycle crashes tend to leave much of the organs too damaged to use for donors. The best donors are drug ODs. Failed but mostly successful suicides are also useful.
