What are your thoughts about giving away what I strongly suspect are fake Cubans? But lemme lay down the reason why I’m asking.
A couple years ago one of my nephews bought, through a friend he trusted, a bunch of “Cubans”. I asked my nephew for a little more info, such as the name of the vendor and even sent him the link to the CC “Bible” site. Warned him that if he didn’t see the cigars there that there was a very high chance that they’d be fake. He didn’t know where his friend got them from but I didn’t push him to get the info.
He bought them anyway.
Paid about $15 each.
Told him that that price was w-a-y too low and something wasn’t right.
A few weeks later he gave me a 5er:
(2) Cohiba Siglo VI
Cohiba Piramide EL2014
HdM Torpedo
RyJ Capuletos EL2016
Amazingly all of them had the same colored, med+ brown wrappers! What are the odds?
And when I did my due diligence, the specs were plainly off or the ELs were never released in those years in those vitolas. Never had the heart to tell my nephew of my findings.
Now, back to the present.
Our SIL’s uncle passed away with the services scheduled for mid-March. The uncle used to smoke cigars so our daughter asked if I could give / spare some cigars for the post-funeral gathering. I have no problem giving them a dozen or so, even 20 but was thinking of throwing in the fake CCs. Of course I would tell my SIL that I suspect they’re fake but wasn’t sure if I really should pass along fakes for this particular occasion.
So, your thoughts?
