Passed away today at age 95

Although I rooted for the Packers, always respected him as a coach. At least his teams played in an open-air stadium!

This.

When growing up in north west WI there was a mix of Packer's fans and Viking's fans. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul were about an hour and a half drive away just over the Wisconsin and Minnesota border as defined by the Mississippi River.

Due to local broadcasting and regional coverage we often got the Viking's games on TV over the air waves instead of the Packers games.

Our next door neighbor was a die hard Viking's fan and I had to suffer through watching Bud Grant's defense crashing down on our Lynn Dicky.

He was a great coach. Old school like Lombardi, Hank Stram, Tom Landry, George Halas

The Purple People Eaters were a dominate force back in the day.
