#29 – Florida Sun Grown Intensa toro from Jake. Thank you Jake
#30 – Foundation Olmec romusto from Stogie. Thank you Stogie
#31 – Viaje C-4 from Marcus. I thought the flavor of this cigar was exceptional, but unfortunately, the burn was not. Still really good though.
That’s it. A month of new cigars. Many of these were from the generous BOTL on this forum, and I appreciated every one that I smoked. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to try so many killer new cigars.
Something that I got from this, that I was in no way expecting, is that I think it helped improve my palate. It helped me identify profiles that I like, and it seemed to sharpen my ability to pay attention to the profile of a cigar. I would smoke each new cigar without any buildup or expectation. I wouldn’t read about it or anything. I’d just smoke it and see if I liked it and why. Then I might read a little about it as I was finishing. I would recommend an exercise like this. I am surprised that I got so much out of it.
I thought I would give a Top 3 Of the Month list, but that was impossible, so I changed to a Top 5. Nope. Top 6? No. The best I could do was squeeze it down to a Top 9, and that was a pain and required more work than I thought it would.
But, here is a shot at my Top 9, in the order in which I smoked them:
RoMa Craft Aquitaine Mode 5 (perfecto)
Plata o Plomo by Sinistro (lancero)
E.P. Carrillo Capa de Sol (romusto)
Illusione Haut 10 (romusto)
Black Works Studio Intergalactic (toro-ish)
Foundry Time Flies (romusto)
Stolen Throne Call to Arms (romusto)
Tabacalera Diaz Delectados Ox Blood (toro)
Viaje C-4 (a fat romusto)
To make it a nice even number, I will throw in as an honorable mention the Aging Room Rare Collection romusto that I smoked on New Year’s Eve before I started this. There are more honorable mentions, but you get the point.
I’m not sure what’s next. My “gonna cut down on what I buy” b.s. didn’t last at all. I think I’m gonna re-up that as a February resolution.
