Have any of you seen a humidor around 2000+ count upright with no glass ideally full climate control heat/cool/humidify/dehumidify. I see some like this but they all have a display window that I don't want. I'm thinking something like a standard refrigerator size and look. Have you seen anything like this?

Wait, the title says "2000ct" but your post is "200 count" - which one is correct? Think

Gonna guess "2000" since you also said "...standard refrigerator size and look." With that being said, yes, I do believe there are big humidors like that but fo' sure they ain't cheap. But also recall the company that was doing them is either no longer in business or was so s-l-o-w in communicating with customers as well as producing them that there were a lot of negative comments.

Ultimately you could mebbe do a Google search to find something you like then come back to the forum and ask if anyone has had any dealings with that company.

Edit: 5 second search:

Good luck!

Same here but I'm looking for something a little less fancy. I don't need to view my cigars through a window and would be more efficient without the window. The more I describe it the more I think a refrigerator conversion might be the route I need to go.

Yes, 2000 count or the more I think about it maybe greater. I did do more like an hour search but don't think I saw the link you sent or missed it. Any way I just cruised that site as well and they have some beautiful stuff but I'm looking for something I can spray with sparks or bump with a tractor and not worry. Those are extreme examples but it's for the shop so I'm not looking for fancy at all. Rugged would be good.

One method I’ve seen used is the old “vertical” cooler trick.
This guy bought the largest cooler he could find, and then built a 2x4 framed “stand” around it
This particular cooler already had “slots” built in the sides, which worked out perfectly as shelf slots when situated vertically.
With the frame painted, and some additional artistic touches, it was pretty dang cool.
Held well over 1,200 cigars if I recall correctly.

That is a good idea but I want to put it in a building that isn't always temperature controlled and here in Massachusetts we can have some wicked temperature swings so I was hoping to find something ready to go with heating and cooling. I'm headed to youtube. Somebody must have built this.

Maybe don’t put your cigars in an environment that has extreme temp and RH swings?
Its never a good idea, no matter how good your storage solution.

Yes, you're right and I've put too much time into this already. If anyone hears of something like I described please let me/us know. Thanks

I’d be afraid to keep even an expensive unit in non climate controlled building.

As far as a storage I converted a 75 bottle wine fridge. I don’t use the cooling feature. Just leave it unplugged.

I have a really big one.

With no glass.

I could probably hold 2,000 I think I’ve had as many as 900 and it wasn’t near full.

If you have that many cigars you might have a problem. My name is Bucky and I'm an "holic" in many ways. Definition: a physical compulsion, coupled with a mental obsession to consume things of desire.

When I started this addiction some 20ish yrs ago it was just a desktop humidor. Then I learned that they get better with age so... gotta buy more to age them... I kept buying. Started to store the overflow in a cooler in the basement, then a tote, and then another tote, and another... Used to have tuperdoors and coolerdors and tubs of the things in my basement stacked 6 ft high. Some nice cigars, some regular average stuff, bunch of stuff that turned out that I didn't like (my accumulation and experimentation mode of the cigar life cycle)

Also had an extra fridge in my basement... looked at the tubs, looked at the fridge... looked at the tubs, looked at the fridge. Hmm.. I could just unplug the fridge, line it with cedar from old cigar boxes and get rid of the coolers and totes. Brilliant!

Since then I've leaned temper myself and have whittled down to a one tuperdor for storage and a small wine fridge for easy access.

Long story short... one option for redneck cigar storage would be to check out Craigslist or similar for an old fridge that someone wants to get rid of. It's insulated from temperature swings, and sealed from swings of humidity. If you're looking for it to be a piece of furniture and fit your decor... spray paint it in various colors and call it a functional piece art.

I thought I was eliminating my multiple tupperdor issue. Turns out I didn't go big enough. Fridge might've done it

Hi Bucky, Yes, I do have a problem and your story sounds just like mine. I think I am going to go the fridge in the basement route.

I once bought an antique fridge for just this purpose. I think I got it on craigslist, but it could've been a thrift store.
It would have looked great, been interesting, but as it turns out, I was too lazy to actually spiffy it up. I eventually gave it away.

But, an antique fridge would look cool. It's not like you need it to work.

Early wineadors were wood. That’s exactly what I have.

I bet if you spoke with that company Palama suggested, they could do a custom piece for you. They look like they have custom capability and almost look like they sell to home builders. https://vigilantinc.com/contact/

I once worked as a designer for a custom furniture/store display fixture manufacture and we did this type of thing. Being they do humidors regularly, they've clearly mastered the art of sealing them well. You should ask for a quote for a basic design armoire humidor that's veneered with some 10 or 12 gauge stainless diamond plate. That would satisfy all requirements...and look awesome! It would just look like a steel cabinet/tool box while being an armored tortious shell for your prized smokes.

If I was still in the business, I'd absolutely love a crack at designing something like this for ya.... and kinda want one for myself now. I'm not sure what the cost of materials would be now days, but 20 years ago I could probably make this for around $1500-$2000 if it was a basic design with yield friendly dimensions. 47"w x 23"d x <96"h

I think that may be my route or build one from wood. I've discarded the idea of storing out in the shop and I like woodworking so I think I'm going to build one from wood for in the house. I've been looking around for spanish cedar. It seems like most humidors are made from other woods and lined with spanish cedar. Either way I'm going to need a humidification system. I'd like to find something other than beads or packets yet a system that can humidify and dehumidify to lock in at 65%. Any recommendations?
