One of the trusted sites for CCs has a sale on the Illusione La Grande Classe Rex (4-7/8 x 40 PC). Two bundles of 25 going for $210. I’ve never tried one so wondering if anyone has tried it and what didja think of them?

I think our local mohel smokes those while using his trusty Lotus V cutter.

Saw that and was wondering the same. Remember someone a few weeks ago saying they had. Box slit?

Did a little snooping and in the last 4 years, the following have smoked at least one and based upon their comments, seems to be a good smoke.

I don’t think the Le Grande hasn’t scored as well as the Fume De Amour, I’ve never had one, if I remember they’re a lighter blend?

Hmmm, you are correct. I was looking at the original REX from 2013-2014... My bad.

The LGC Rex is a good short smoke and burns consistently well. Worth the $4 and change IMO

I did like the original Rex better (thanks again Z), but they're a little harder to find

Years ago, (8-9 years?) had an unbanded smoke, corona sized 5 x 44...great cigar, gifted by someone I've forgotten (forgive me)...asked him what it was and how/where to get more...he said it was a Le Grande Classe, made by Illusione... couldn't find them anywhere ...apparently discontinued...rich creamy cocoa and bread... mild to medium

damm Ironclad Resolution prevents me from taking the plunge to see if these are anything like their predecessors

Ir talks about that in the Halfwheel article. There was a limited release LGC and a limited release Rex. This is a regular production cross between the two

Found it interesting that the LGCR doesn’t use a MSA wrapper like the other two so seems a bit curious to say that it’s a “cross” between them. But hey, better(?) for me as I wouldn’t have ordered them if they still used MSA.

That is an interesting point. Mebbe I should say allegedly a cross between the two

I don’t recall which review I read it in but I saw the “…cross between the two…” somewhere on the Innerwebs so don’t worry, it didn’t originate from you.
