Very well done, a useful study for those who don't recognise WOKE when and where it raises it ugly JACOBIN head.

"Woke is a movement that invades and usurps public spaces and economic roles occupied by dominant cultural forces and group identities, displaying moral absolutism, intolerance, narcissism, victimhood, identity theft, alarmism, and the appearance of tolerance and diversity instead of their substance."

What and Why is ‘Woke?’

Quote:
The modern phenomenon of ‘woke’ is hard to pin down. Is it a movement, a religion, an attitude, or a lifestyle? Here we offer our own definition that places woke in the broader historical and political story of the West.

We start with a list of attitudinal elements that most people would agree should count as part of woke. In this we are spoiled for choice, with a whole smorgasbord of examples from the personal, political and corporate spheres from which to discern the core elements. Here are our top five:

Identity theft. This is best exemplified in gender appropriation, whereby anyone who says or believes they are a woman is indeed a woman and must be treated as such by others, at pain of social disapprobation and even legal punishment. The woke lack respect for previous identities.

Illiberalness. The woke perspective in many areas features a suspension of belief in public debate and the value of diverse viewpoints, to the point of being willing to invade and sabotage public spaces in which such debates and viewpoints are aired.

Cancel culture. We see the cancellation imperative of woke in the destruction of symbols and rituals of the previously dominant Western culture: felling monuments, defacing art, negating traditional days of celebration, using disruption and chaos to draw attention to causes, and targeting the careers of those who defend the pre-existing culture.

Victimhood. Woke places primacy in the public sphere on helplessness and victimhood, preferably victimhood resulting from perceived injustices at the hands of traditional Western culture.

Alarmism. Woke promotes the idea of the collapse of civilisation due to human-induced threats (like climate, viruses, or the Chinese government) and adopts ever new totems allegedly to ward off that collapse.

Since "Politics is downstream from culture", I could have, but since WOKISM is first a cultural phenomenon, it seems appropriate for general discussion. Besides, I thought it might be interesting for those who fear treading in the P forum.

Maybe everyone should just block RayRay. Seems a lot of people aren't even posting on non-political forums anymore.

I know Tony, you're probably asking, "What does this have to do with cigars?"

Well, I'm glad you asked!

Victimhood being a critical part of the WOKIE strategy requires the constant manufacture of victims.
You see the WOKIES believe that flavored cigar smokers are the victims of the predatory cigar industry. They will additionally say they are defacto victims of having made their own choices in the marketplace.

Their WOKIE solution as always is too forcibly remove the victims' choices one step at a time. Wokies say that by removing the victims personal choices the victims will no longer be victims anymore. No negative unintended consequences either they'll say too. Glare Then if successful, they can go on and create new victims for their crusades against choices and of course the continued crusade for massive taxpayer funding for those campaigns against choices.

Analysis: FDA Flavored Cigar Ban Will Create Unregulated And Criminal Markets

WASHINGTON, May 25, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cigar Association of America (CAA) today published a new analysis showing the significant negative impacts the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) proposed ban on flavored cigars would have on public health and law enforcement activities.

Quote:
Analysis: FDA Flavored Cigar Ban Will Create Unregulated And Criminal Markets
CAA President David M. Ozgo stated: "Making flavored cigars illegal will not eliminate the demand for flavored cigars; it will only criminalize their sale and create illicit markets. The nation has seen this with marijuana and our failed experiment in alcohol prohibition in the 1920's."

Thanks Rammie.

It's ironic that the biggest complainers of what Bud Light (ABInbev) did, and following in with the boycott of it, complain about "victimhood" the loudest.

FYI, I don't shop at Target, I don't drink Bud Light, I don't eat Chick-fil-a. Not because of a boycott, I don't like their product.

And I don't care about anybody's politics, so please keep it on the political forum. Your posting it here is as bad as the dumb noobs posting about their lots and deliveries. Frying pan

Tough crowd here HD. Don't start telling jokes.

I think Pliny has things mixed up, I heard the stockholders of Target and Anheuser-Busch are the biggest VICTIMS of WOKYNESS. Doesn't affect me directly but they should be the ones complaining he most.

Rammie, Pliny and Tony just don't GAF. They think the culture war is only about politics.
Don't they know the WOKIES won't stop trying to ban flavored cigars until it's a thing? And then they'll try banning all cigars.
When they come for their cigars, I betcha they'll be complaining?

So there is a Priest, a Rabbi, and an Atheist in a boat fishing.

The priest says "Oh heavens, I forgot my lures back on land" and steps out of the boat, walks across the water back to the land, and grabs his lures before walking back to the boat.

The atheist was astounded, but before he could make sense of the situation, the rabbi says "Oh Hashem help me, I forgot my bait!" And he also steps out of the boat, and walks across the water back to the land to grab his bait, before walking back to the boat.

The atheist was stunned, but refusing to believe in divinity of any sort or it's impact on the world, he says "Yeah... I left my extra line on land". The atheist hops out of the boat and onto the water, and goes to walk across, but falls right through to the bottom of the lake.

After a moment the rabbi looks at the priest and says "Come to think of it, we probably should have told him where the rocks were."

The priest says “What rocks?”
