Baofong UV-5R 2 way radio dual band on sale for $19.70

Is it worth having to buy the cable to program?

Will I be able to hear my buddy Gary while he watches his BF’s hut?

Appears to be a good deal. I can only APPROVE this purchase if you have verified it is a good price and a good buy. 😉

So Ram is it possible to get a post purchase retroactive approval?

For my birthday that is coming up, I pulled the trigger on a PENN VISX 12 (gold colored) mounted to a United Composites RCP70 XH-C. Paid retail as no one discounts either of these. Since it’s coming from out of state he’s not charging me sales tax. He is also going to spool it for free with 90% 100# hollow braid and 10% 100# Diamond mono. In addition he has shipped it from California to Louisiana via UPS ground for free.

I’ll get to test it on 7/6 when MACS and I go fishing out of Jacksonville.

Z, I am looking for a decent set of walkies for the family (hikes, theme parks, etc.) but these look like they require a HAM license to use that way.

Any suggestions for good general use talkies?

Or does no one really care if you use these like a normal walkie talkie?

These don’t require a license to operate unless you unlock them and use certain frequencies (I think). I was actually thinking about getting one for me and my daughter, one for my mom and step dad, one for my ex wife and one for her in laws (we play fantasy football together, real blended family). It would cover most of the valley and if something happened to cell signals like during the Alameda fire, or a family member emergency it would be easier to get help. And yeah my daughter and I for camping and hiking same thing there.

Counting down the days.

In Vegas waiting to get unloaded. Later today I've got to head down to Santa Fe Springs to swap trailers then to Miro Loma to pick up a load with two stops in Houston. From there I'll either get a short 2-3 day load and head home or I won't get a load and I'll head home early. Regardless, I'll leave my house about 08:00 on the 4th. Should arrive thirsty and hungry by 18:00 your time.

I've got a lot of beer, a lot of bourbon and I'll be sure to have a freshly smoked brisket.

Bring fireworks if you find some. That should be fun after a few beers. Beer
