Shawn and I are planning an offshore fishing charter out of Venice, LA this winter (November-February). Targeted species will be giant yellowfin tuna, wahoo and perhaps swordfish. It’s safe to assume everyone will take home at least 50 - 100 pounds of meat, maybe more.
We’ll be going out 30-60 miles offshore on a 39’ Contender center console that cruises around 50-60 knots. It can accommodate up to 6 people.
The plan is to get to Venice the day before. Spend the night in a condo, go out the following morning for 10-12 hours then spend another night in the condo before heading home.
The charter cost is $2200. Add another $800-$1500 for fuel depending on price and amount burned, plus crew gratuities. She told me to budget $4000, but it should be less. Add to that two nights accommodations which is about $600 for up to 6 people.
So total should be no more than $4,600. Split 6 ways is $766 or less per person. Pretty good deal considering how much fish you should bring home.
Deposits will be required 2 weeks in advance or sooner if required by charter company. That way no one is forced to pay extra if someone backs out at the last minute.
Post up if interested.
