Tonight was about Audra McDonald (sp?) and Mandy Patinkin.
Not that I'd have ever thought to ask nor care about their "roots", but this show reduces them to humans with whom we can identify and therefore care about.
Some sweet and painful emotions. It's the common human experience.
Been watching that for half a decade. Was a great show. Then the Floyd Thing happened and they couldn’t resist pushing the slavery background of just about every black guest, and seemed to fall all over themselves putting the spotlight on the remotest of connection between white guests and slave ownership.
Some stories have wild, nearly unbelievable twists.
