Never understood buying singles online. By now I generally know what fits in my taste profile and preferred blends so that weeds out a bunch. Even if a new blend or product that sounds like something that might suit me, I'd like to give it a couple chances before I add it to the prolly won't buy again list.

5ers work for that. Maybe try one shortly after they arrive and are acclimated to my preferred environment. If it sucks, put the other 4 away for a nap and try again later. If still sucks, it has one more chance left after some more sleep. After 3 chances, it's either on my mental worth buying again list or on my mental not gonna buy list.

You'll have no competition on single purchases from me bencounter.

Bencounter, be careful. Bidders with over 1000 auction wins can retract their last bid for a short period of time after making it (like right at the end of an auction). You are going to get stuck with a REALLY big bill for those Rocky Patels Fumas singles if you try to start a bidding war.

When I first discovered online cigar sites, I initially ordered singles. They were much cheaper than buying locally and of course, the selection w-a-y broader. But, I soon found out about CBid and that changed everything! If I was patient and not get caught up in “losing is a sign of weakness” frenzy, I could buy 5ers for almost the same price as a single from any local (…they obviously didn’t protect me ram27bat ). So yah, a time and place for singles. And since I don’t even check the auctions anymore, I’mma definitely no threat to OP.

^I think you're also slacking off a little bit on keeping these people in line. Accepting "whoever" instead of "whomever" in the thread title? Shame on you

OP needs to fix that ****e. This is how standards degrade.

No, no, no. Not talking

SOB is the English major. I’ve always had a hard time with “who(ever) / whom(ever)” no matter how many times I read “the rules”.

I used to grab singles if there were multiple lots of ones I liked at a good price. Samplers covered my blend exploration early on.

Rule o' thumb:
If you can replace with he, she, or they in a sentence, use whoever.

If you can replace with him, her, or them, whomever

Neither scenario fits the thread title very well, but whomever feels right to me

Bidding wars are the great source of income for auctioneers. People who fall into the war trap will end up paying too much. Contrary to advice elsewhere here, losing may be a sign of intelligence.

as long as you have given the answer as to which pronoun(s) to use, I'll try to complicate it with the rules that you are breaking down...

"If you can replace with he, she, or they in a sentence, use whoever."- in this scenario, we are talking about the pronoun to use when said pronoun is the subject of the sentence, or the one doing the action.

Ironically, these are the Subjective Case Pronouns.
I, You, He/She/It...or Who
We, You, They...or Who

If you can replace with him, her, or them, whomever- these are the pronouns to use when said pronoun is the object of the action happening in the sentence and/or the object of a preposition which usually introduces a phrase.

The Objective Case Pronouns are:
Me You, Him/Her/It...or Whom
Us, You, Them...or Whom

Since the OP begins with "To" which is a preposition, it would take an Objective Case Pronoun...if reworded, the OP might be understood to be saying "I (beancounter), am sending a warning TO whomever is the problem"
Beancounter is the Subject and the First Person Subjective case Pronoun is "I".
The action, or verb, is "sending". The object of bean's sending this warning...or to whom he is speaking, would be me/you/him/her or whom...or us, you, them or whom if unknown.

Examples of prepositions are : to, at, from. Probably a couple dozen of them out there.

Next week: Possessive Case Pronouns.

Disclaimer: I have not yet embraced the special case category that wishes to go by They/Them

You know that feeling when you walk into a room and there’s SO much going on that your mind goes poop-poop 💩 from information overload? Well, that just happened to me! Gonz

Until just a few minutes ago, the last time it happened to me was when I was in Vegas in 2011 and went to Casa Fuente for the first time. The walk-in humidor was much bigger than what it is today so when I walked in and saw shelves and shelves of cigars, my mind literally exploded. A slight exaggeration but it seemed like there were cigars for miles and miles (…queue up the Who…).

With that being said, thanks Dan and Frankie for ‘splaining when to use Who(ever) / Whom(ever). I know for a fact, Jack, that I’mma NOT gonna retain much of the above but it was good, for a bright shining moment. ThumpUp

I only bid on singles if I have a box or bundle auction that I've already won so I don't have to pay for the added shipping costs. Just bidding on a single cigar seems a tad illogical otherwise.
