Starbucks is getting heat in social media including boycott requests over a pro hamass statement from the union of Starbucks employees.

Starbucks is suing the union for damages. I'm not a fan of their politics or the overpriced desert drinks they call coffee, but they are getting screwed for no reason. OTOH, they have screwed over plenty of gun owners with their anti-gun policies.

Quote:
Starbucks and the union organizing its workers sued each other Wednesday in a standoff sparked by a social media post over the Israel-Hamas war.

Starbucks sued Workers United in federal court in Iowa Wednesday, saying a pro-Palestinian social media post from a union account early in the Israel-Hamas war angered hundreds of customers and damaged its reputation.

Starbucks is suing for trademark infringement, demanding that Workers United stop using the name “Starbucks Workers United” for the group that is organizing the coffee company’s workers. Starbucks also wants the group to stop using a circular green logo that resembles Starbucks’ logo.

Workers United responded with its own filing, asking a federal court in Pennsylvania to rule that it can continue to use Starbucks’ name and a similar logo. Workers United also said Starbucks defamed the union by implying that it supports terrorism and violence.

Union will now loose its IRS status.

Starbucks’ main individual shareholder is Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks. Major institutional shareholders comprise BlackRock, with 7.18%, and The Vanguard Group, with 8.6% ownership. Dead serious- they don't F around with chit like this. Too much big $$$ involved.

If Starbucks wins it could execute the judgement on the union/its assets - and maybe even seize ownership of the union to try to dissolve it. Not a bad goal, huh? But, I don't think it would ever work because 'bucks would lose to many workers. And, the union would just start up again "overnight."

One cup of Aero press coffee most mornings. Usually the 3 lb can of Costco Colombian roast.

I don't do charbucks. Expensive coffee that tastes like it's burnt. Kid worked there in HS so I have tasted almost all of it... and it all sucks.

No, I roast and brew my coffee beans in a Technovorn drip coffee maker and drink it black.

I have nothing against people liking coffee based desert-style drinks, people should drink whatever they enjoy. When traveling and I need a little caffeine later in the day I will buy a Starbucks frappuccino drink from a gas station.
