The 2008 inductees in HOF are:
Leonard Cohen
The Dave Clark Five (Dave Clark, Lenny Davidson, Rick Huxley, Denny Payton and Mike Smith)
Madonna
John Mellencamp
The Ventures (Bob Bogle, Nokie Edwards, Gerry McGee, Mel Taylor, Don Wilson)

What a f--kin joke, none of that bunch belongs in Hall before Leon Russell........the Hall of Fame for Rock and Roll has been a joke for years....just look at the inductees for 2008 for proof.

What say you, others who should be in, and those who should not.....

Have been meaning to find some Leonard Cohen. The very little I've heard I like. May recognize stuff once I hear it.

But I agree with the overall statement.

You knew the R&R HOF would be a joke as soon as they announced it would be Cleveland.

Awww, c'mon...who else has built an entire career singing double entendre sex lyrics with make-up, costumes, elaborate stages, lights, pyrotechnics and confetti?

I agree with both Charlie and DMV.

While both The Dave Clark Five and The Venturers were of debatable influence on Rock & Roll, they were some of the early groups in the genera, so eventually, the R&RHOF was bound to let them in no matter what, because that early on, almost every group was influential, just in varrying degrees.

Mellencamp - He has always run very close to line between R&R and Pop. Usually a bit more on the R&R side. Comes from the 80's and 90's when radio-friendly was the only way to succeed. We forgave Springsteen for some of the radio-friendly **** he produced and let him in, I think we can get over the "John Cougar-Mellencamp" days. I think Mellencamp does deserve a spot in the R&RHOF, but not in front of Leon.

Leonard Cohen (unless I'm thinking of someone else here) - He took blues and played it on a piano, he effectively single-handedly castorated the blues the same way "smooth jazz" mocked and insulted an art form. **** him, then cut his balls off just like he did to the blues.

Madonna? This is **** joke right? Did she bribe the voting committe? Madonna is living proof that scandal and sex sells, but this is **** ridiculous.

Cheap Trick? Not to me. If it wasn't for Live at Budokan (an album NOT intended to be sold in the U.S.) they wouldn't even be known.

Kiss should be in.
They put on one of the best shows during the 70's.

Alice Cooper?
How could he not be in. Every kid knows Schools Out.

Electing artist to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that are not rock and roll artist is like electing Jimmy Conners to the Football Hall of Fame........or Maria Sharpova to the MLB Hall of Fame....

Doesn't make sense does it...well, why do they do this and leave great artist that belong in RRHOF out?

Charlie, that's an excellent point.

I never thought of a sports analogy, but that fits. Letting in some of the Pop stars is what keeps me from ever wanting to go see the RRHoF.

Going to the RnR HoF was a bucket list item but lately their inductees have been beyond stooopid. This years is especially bad:

At least they fit the "rock 'n roll" part. Some of the others?

Missy Elliott?

George Michael?

Willie Nelson? All-time Country fo' sure but give me a F'ing break, Rock 'n Roll?

They oughta rename the joint "Music Hall of Fame" and drop the "Rock 'n Roll" part.

Nonetheless, fo' sure iffin' I ever go to the Pro Football HoF, I'll do side trips to Cooperstown and Cleveland.

^ oh I agree a hundred on that. Rock hall of fame should be reserved for rock artists. Only rock artists. Rage is borderline rap but I think they fit into what I believe should be there

The R&R HOF is garbage. Instead of being solely about the R&R they think they’re the Music HOF inducting performers from other genres. Inducting rap, R&B and Country acts into the R&R HOF is like being the Football HOF and inducting baseball and hockey players.
