I smoked a Stilwell Star last night that you gave me for my Friday cigar. I thought it was good. I'd smoke it again.

I have to think about my list. Chit like this agonizes me more than it should.

I can't do it. I can't make a list. I'm not going to do it. It's causing me too much angst.

OK, here's my list, in no particular order. And only for cigars that are somewhat regular production, and I've smoked at least 2. The one-off LCA / Privada stuff doesn't count, nor does Ezra Zion. Too small batch. Although some of the Privada and EZ cigars have been excellent.

Oliva Melanio
Warped Chinchalle
AF RSG R44
AF CF Cuban Belicoso
AF Anejo 888
SD Ladykiller
Caldwell The Last Tsar
CH Las Calaveras '22
CH Las Calaveras '23
La Aurora ADN

I will mention, however, that I think the best cigar I smoked last year may have been the Privada Champagne toro. It was just excellent in every possible way. I looked on their site to buy some, but they were $22 each d'oh! , and sold out.Angry

EDIT: I knew I'd forget something! The Plascencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro

I was a big surprise for me. The initial release had them rather cheap and honestly I expected Saison and found Melanio relatively speaking.

The Umbagog cigar tasted like it was filled with leaves pulled from plants in a bass lake...imho

Think I may have one, mebbe 2, laying around. Should search for them. Who knows, they might have that buttery shortbread flavor a few of us have been looking for. jester

I didn’t like umbagog either. Or mi querida. Or red mi querida. They’re all kinda sorta related I think

Smoke Monkey said to stick to big ring gauges with the Umbagog blend. So I've had the 4.75x56 and the 6x56. Like em. Delta, what vitola did you smoke?

All three are similar, especially the Umbagog and the Blue. Didnt like the Red and wont really miss the Blue--I have 4 left. I liked the Blue for 4 dollars per cigar though.

Steve said if we cant tell the difference between his cigars and the other guys, then save our money and smoke the other guys.

Well, at least I could tell the difference... the other guys are better.

^ agree. I’ll pay for the original sobremesa. I payed for the todos also. I like the brûlée but I won’t pay that for it. Never tried the blue band brûlée but will at some point. Actually really liked the navy Stilwell star. Payed for those too.

Man can blend a good cigar but I thought the mi querida and all variants were just ok. If 4$ I’d smoke one here or there. But honestly I’ll buy aj smokes in that price and smoke those

It was the 6 x 56. I smoked the first one while in the jacuzzi and it was harsh and seemingly tightly rolled - difficult to get much smoke. After I got out of the spa, I finished the cigar, which puffed better...maybe the first half issues were due to the increased RH from the jacuzzi. But the flavor was not anything special.

Smoked two others since and both performed well, but the flavors were not to my liking. I'll have to dig around to find the other two of the 5 pack I bought. Maybe the extra rest will help. I'm glad you enjoyed yours. Everybody's perception of cigar flavors can differ...many here don't enjoy Mexican San Andres wrapped cigars...I like them and their bold muddy barnyard essence.

I bought a hand full of DTT cigars from a vendor who offered them at a reduced price. Along with the Umbagog, I got some Mi Queridas, Mi Querida Triqui Tracas, and some Todos Las Dias. I was disappointed with them all, too. Had high hopes since I really liked the Sobremesa...

I think I’m the only guy I know who got almost nothing out of the Sobremesa Brûlée. Well made, good smoke, good draw, but I didn’t get any discernible sweetness or much flavor at all. I have one chilling in the Humidor and I’m pretty sure it will be better. Maybe I smoked the first one without proper aging time. I don’t know.

The Brulee came out after the release of the Sobremesa. I liked the OR Sobremesa (in the Cervantes Fino size) much better than the Brulee, which was very mild compared to the Sobremesa. It is the only DTT line I've really liked, tho I haven't tried them all. Not sure if I'll get around to them, after the I.R., but I've not tried the Muestra de Saka, the Red meat Lovers, Sin Compromiso, Stillwell Star, or Mi Querida Black....................since I've only liked one of the few I've had...

Hmmm. I didn't like the Sobremesa at all. Got 2 left out of a fiver. I really like Ecuadorian Habano leaf, but the Sobremesa seemed mild and flavorless to me. Had the toro.

My hands down favorite of all his smokes is/was the Todos Las Dias. I've had all the sizes and like the short churchill and toro the best. I was disappointed when he discontinued the Todos line, but I prolly would have quit buying them anyway since he removed his stuff from the auction sites, and raised prices. I did enjoy it as a 7 dollar smoke for the toro, a little less for the short churchhill. Used to purchase them from "the other place" quite frequently.

I haven't tried any of his newest stuff either, and don't intend to...

^ I wasn't all that impressed with the Sobremesa either. Basically thought what you thought. But, I just chalked it up to my lack of taste buds.

my initial hopes for DTT have been quashed...Saka is putting out meh stuff and charging top tier prices...

but he's not alone...plenty of others doing the same in the name of small batch boutique cigars from "special" tobaccos...
