I have come across an Acurite digital hygrometer. This thing is out by about 6%. I've had the back off. Nothing obvious there. I don't have the instructions, perhaps it's an arcane combination of button pushing? Any help out there?

I have one that's exactly 10% off. Works fine at a reading of 60%.

James, go to www.cigargroup.com/faq/ This will answer lots of your questions. Or at least give you a starting point. I gotta read it 6% off huh? That just seems obscene somehow. Guess I will live with it.

I don't think any of the digitals I know of are
adjustable.I do believe even the best digitals are only guaranteed +or- 1 to 2% most are +or- 2 to 4%.If it's more than that, send it back, but if your like most of us you just put a little sticker on it for + or - whatever ?

I have stripped this thing down to the circuit board. There is no potentiometer. Looks like this thing is really meant for weather monitoring. It has an in/out setting. It occurs to me that it once had another sensor which was snipped of. If it had 2 sensors then calibration would have to be inherent to the sensor. Either that or 2 adjustments. There are none. I guess I will go with the original plan. And I bet it works just fine.

xrundog, yes there was originally a remote sensor for outdoor temperature. I think I know where you got this (an online auction not cbid). I bought mine in a retail store for less than they sell for on that site and it still has the remote temp sensor. I've been tempted to snip mine off but haven't yet.

I've also had mine open looking for a potentiometer and I also found out there isn't one. No problem, I did the salt test and found out mine is +2% so I put a sticker on it to remind me.

What I'm actually thinking of doing is taking out my trusty soldering iron and using the wire from the remote temp sensor to mount the humidity sensor. That way I can have the hygrometer on my desk and check the humidity inside my humidor without opening it. If I do it, I'll post here to let you know how it goes.

Lenny, I didn't buy it. It came with a humidor I purchased. My nature is to f*k with anything that isn't working perfectly. I would not give this to someone, but it will do the job as is. I AM interested in your further exploits though!
